PHD: Walk me through your off-season. What did you do to improve your basketball game?

“In this offseason, I work out 4 times a week. I do a workout with my shooting coach on Monday and Wednesday in the morning at 6:20. I also do workout out with my basketball trainer two times a week after I finish school before football practice.“

PHD: What’s one specific part of your game you focused on improving this offseason, and where do you feel like you’ve made the most progress?

“One part of my game that I have really focused on improving is my shooting. I would say I’ve definitely made the most progress in my outside shot.“

PHD: What does your fall look like right now? Are you playing another sport, or is it all basketball focused?

“Right now, I am in football season, but I still find time to get 4 basketball workouts in throughout the week.“

PHD: What are your goals for the coming season, both individually and for your team?

“My goals for this season personally are to be a great point guard for my team. I want to take care of the ball and run the offense while still being the hardest worker on defense. My goal for my team is to make the state tournament this year.“

PHD: Can you give some insight on an influential coach you have had? What made them memorable?

“An influential coach I have had is my head Coach, Kyle Courtney. He is always pushing me to be the best version of myself and he sees how good I can be for me and my team even when I do not. He’s always encouraging me and keeping me accountable.“

PHD: Time to give a shout to a teammate…Who do we need to know about from your high school team?

“I want to shout out two teammates. First is Peyton Glenn Peyton Glenn 6'3" | SG/SF Rapid City Christian | 2027 State SD , Peyton and I have played together since we were in 2nd grade and we have great chemistry. Peyton does so much for our team and I really enjoy playing with him. My other teammate is my big man Henry Koppmann Henry Koppmann 6'6" | PF Rapid City Christian | 2027 State SD . Henry and I have been friends the whole time we’ve been at RCC together so we have great chemistry as-well. He is 6’7 so he is a very nice presence to have in the paint and he helps us out a lot with rebounds.“

PHD: Who is your favorite player to watch in college or the NBA, and why?

“My favorite player to watch is Kyrie Irving. I love watching how smooth his game is and how good his handles and finishing are.“

PHD: Where do you feel like your game has grown the most in the past year or two?

“I have grown the most in slowing down the game and getting my teammates involved. I have improved my decision-making as a point guard and finishing at the rim.“

PHD: Who pushes you the hardest, whether that’s a teammate, a coach, or someone you train with?

“My dad pushes me the most. He is always encouraging me to get in the gym and is always willing to help me out in every part of my game. He is also on the coaching staff, so he is at practice pushing me every day as well.“

PHD: Where is your hot spot on the floor or can you tell us about a “go-to” move you like to use?

“I’d say my best shot on the court is a one dribble pull up jumper from the elbow. My go-to move I like to use is a AI crossover to get by defenders.“

Football: 0-1, hard-fought 30-38 loss to Chamberlain. 2-way athlete, 6 receptions for 160 yards and a TD, 5 tackles on defense.

Basketball: A do-it-all team player, a nasty defender, great at keeping the defense off-balance when attacking, smart & heady player with a sharp skill-set

Sully Kieffer Sully Kieffer 6'0" | CG Rapid City Christian | 2027 SD has carved out his role as the steady hand for the Comets and has been impressive early on. The junior point guard is growing increasingly comfortable as the floor general, bringing composure, toughness, and control to both ends of the floor. His defensive presence sets the tone, as he consistently draws the assignment of guarding the opposing team’s top perimeter threat and takes pride in making life difficult for them. On offense, Kieffer keeps everything organized. He does a strong job of initiating sets, delivering the ball to the right spots, and keeping teammates involved, all while knowing when to assert himself. His strength and shiftiness make him hard to keep out of the lane, and once he gets downhill, he creates problems for defenses. Add in Sully’s ability to rebound at a high level for a guard, and Kieffer’s impact goes well beyond the stat sheet. His poise, physicality, and two-way play have made him a difference maker early and a name to keep an eye on as the season moves forward.

With key graduates moving on, Rapid City Christian will look to junior guard Sully Kieffer Sully Kieffer 6'0" | CG Rapid City Christian | 2027 SD to take the reins and he’s ready for the challenge. An athletic and confident point guard, Kieffer plays with energy and aggression on both ends of the floor. He’s a tenacious on-ball defender who takes pride in disrupting opponents, a productive rebounder from the guard spot, and a dynamic playmaker who thrives in transition. After a strong offseason where he sharpened his shooting and overall polish, Kieffer is poised to emerge as the Comets’ go-to leader and a true breakout performer in Class A this season.

Sully is a solid performer from his guard position. One that can fill it up fast from the outside.

Kieffer has been inching up to the top 10 in the 2027 class. He has elite athleticism and jumps out of the gym.

Kieffer is combining his freak athleticism with a developing skill-set. He showed to be a solid distributor of the ball in the half court, with a really skilled and explosive handle on the ball. One of the top few vertically-gifted and bouncy athletes in the class. He uses that athleticism to finish at the rim. Gets by his initial defender quite easily with his burst.
