LONG BEACH — The annual Ron Massey Fall Hoops Classic at McBride high school featured many of SoCal's top high school programs and prospects. The two-day event provided a platform for high level competition as teams begin their tune-ups for the regular season. Below we take a look at the best forwards and centers we saw at this event.

[player_tooltip player_id='1620352' first='James' last='Bass'] | 2025 | Campbell Hall

Bass used his long, wiry frame and bouncy athleticism to contest and alter shots at the rim. The 6-foot-8 center can really move his feet laterally when hedging or containing on a guard in ball screen action and his dexterity and explosive athleticism allows him to react and recover quickly as a help-side defender. Bass is still raw on the offensive end but is a capable lob threat and active offensive rebounder.

Jonas Onware | 2026 | Long Beach Poly

Onware is a sleeper-type prospect whose stock should take off over the next two seasons. The 6-foot-8 center has fluid athleticism, soft hands, and looks to finish everything with power around the basket. Onware is a late-blooming prospect great feel on the defensive end which shows in his ability to stay vertical without fouling when contesting shots and quick-twitch instincts make him a capable shot blocker as a help defender.

[player_tooltip player_id='2551864' first='Mouhamed' last='Sylla'] | 2025 | CIA Bella Vista (AZ)

Sylla was a pretty dominant force on both ends of the floor with his elite combination of strength, length and explosive athleticism at 6-feet-11. The senior ran the floor and filled lanes out wide and in the middle of the floor which resulted in finishes above the rim and through contact. Sylla's ball skills and feel in screen-roll action will allow him to play in a modern offensive system where bigs are featured as dribble hand-off options.

[player_tooltip player_id='1580233' first='Paul' last='Osaruyi'] | 2027 | CIA Bella Vista (AZ)

Osaruyi has a well-built frame for a class of 2027 prospect and he knows how to use it to his advantage. The 6-foot-9 center is a physical and bully-ball type offensive player who seeks contact inside, plays through it and cleans up any of his misses with an offensive rebound put-back. Osaruyi is a high motor rim-runner in transition, as well.

Will Malual | 2026 | Crean Lutheran

Malual is another under-the-radar big man in SoCal who will not be for much longer. The 6-foot-9 center has shown a high level combination of hands, touch and footwork around the basket in both traditional back to the basket situations and in ball screen action. Malual has some throwback feel to his game as a true big man who understands how to seal post position and use angles to his advantage.
