NorCal at Pangos All-West Frosh/Soph Camp

PH NorCal was at the 2024 Pangos All-West Frosh/Soph Camp September 21/22 in Long Beach, CA, McBride High School. Approximately 160 prospects from Arizona, Las Vegas, and SoCal. NorCal had 22 prospects make the trip to SoCal to compete in of the top exposure events on the West Coast, we saw most of them. In these types of event you can play well and not get selected to play in the Top 60, and 30 Cream of the Crop Games. Here are some of NorCal's promising prospects who played well in the 3 games we watched.    Virgil is one of NorCal's top scoring guards in the Class of 2027. He's a ball dominant guard who blends his scoring with quality passing. He found ways to contribute in this environment. His ball handling up top, crisp passing along the perimeter, and a couple cross over moves to get to the basket for strong contact finishes were noted. He hit 3's off the dribble, used his body to get to his spots.       He has a quality set of handles, makes aggressive moves on the initial drive with his dribble going towards the basket. Each game he got more aggressive putting pressure on the defense to stop his penetrating drives. He handles ball pressure in full court with a chance to go all the way. He can stop on the dime for the mid-range, his floater and paint jumpers, were going in. He dropped a couple of 3's.     He's bigger and stronger than we thought. He has the handles of a guard but plays mostly off ball, using hard dribble to attack the basket from the side. He plays well off two feet, has good hops finishing strong inside and going up for rebounds. He gives good effort defending     A Strong body with good bounce for rebounding and finishing above the rim. He has the handles to get to his spots for mid-range jumpers, he'll finish strong on the drive with good hang time after gliding in with his long strides. He rebounds, then pushes in transition going to coast to coast if there's a open path he'll dunk. He has good lateral movement on defense.     He's a good shooter from behind the 3-point line. He has the confidence of a shooter, he moves, uses his screens, has a good quick release, and feet are set. He'll drop rhythm 3's coming down court in transition, he'll use a dribble or two to get by defenders, then shoot the mid-range, or floaters inside the key. He has good foot speed     He's a good all around player who's still developing his offensive skill set. Standing 6'4 he uses his lengthy arms to defend on the perimeter, got a couple of steals, has good lateral movement. He got rebounds with good outlet passing, sometimes making the long pass up. He did well running up and down the court getting transition buckets, and hustling back to defend.
