The John Lucas "Be Elite" Invitational Camp was by far and away probably the best event to take place in the Greater Houston area over the course of September. Crawling with high level prospects in attendance from all over the country, the camp featured several big names and gave talent the chance to showcase their elite skills. Scouts from high school, college, and even the NBA were in attendance and the media was top notch. Let's take a minute to examine some top guards who shined on Saturday afternoon at Sun Auto Sports.

Beckham, younger brother of NBA player Anthony Black, was by far and away one of the best playmaking guards in attendance at the camp. He set teammates up numerous times when they were wide open for a quick bucket, whether it was on the perimeter or in the post. He has great downhill speed to where he can beat his matchup almost every time to the rim and it also allows him to play the passing lanes for easy transition steals and buckets. Black can also make the defense pay from the midrange if left open as he has a quick trigger on his jumper.

King was an absolute killer on both ends of the court in multiple scrimmage games against other top notch guards. He constantly was able to find his way to the basket, slithering past multiple defenders for an acrobatic finish at the rim and sometimes a free and-one as he was automatic from the foul stripe as well. I liked Gibson's ability to control the tempo of the game as he was by far and away one of the speedier guards in attendance and showed his skills can take him to the next level.

Bryce was a big time scoring guard who displayed a willingness to score from all three levels over the opposition during multiple runs. Dixon can hit from the midrange with a fadeaway or a pull-up jumper as well as finishing through contact or launching a deep three and swishing it home. This was my 2nd time getting to watch Bryce in person and his stock just keeps rising every time he steps on the court. He figures to be a big factor for The Colony this year as he headlines an offense along with other notable top talent like [player_tooltip player_id='1560901' first='Dakari' last='Spear'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2382175' first='Xavier' last=''] Green.

Tyrone was good in all facets during the "Be Elite" scrimmages, but his attribute that stood out to me the most was his full court defense. He possesses the fundamentals and willingness to body up any opposing ballhandler no matter the size difference and he usually comes up with a defensive key stop or a steal that leads to a layup/dunk going the other way. Tyrone also has a consistent jumpshot from deep and will make the defense pay if left open numerous times. I would put him up there with the guards at the camp that impressed me the most and have sky-high potential.

[player_tooltip player_id='1777945' first='Langston' last='Adams Jr.'] had one of the quickest release jumpers I saw on display at the scrimmages. Despite being one of the smallest combo guards there, he constantly found ways to beat the bigger defenders using his size to create space and speed to maneuver to spots for wide open shots. I liked Langston's playmaking a lot and how he was a constant encourager for his teammates as well as his ability to control the tempo of the offense.
