Sunday morning I was notified of a special open run in the city that had quite a few talented players in it. I made the drive over and was delighted to have some early morning hoops before the football games started. Here is a recap of the runs.

[player_tooltip player_id='1285486' first='Tristian' last='Ford'] Chi Prep 6'2 2025

The electric and quick twitched guard was just that in the runs. Ford used long arms and his speed to get several steals that he turned into dunks and layups that nobody could contest. [player_tooltip player_id='2375418' first='Tristan' last=''] also looked good from three. He made a few that hit nothing but net. This was my first time watching him play since he committed to Murray State. He's playing with a new level of confidence.

[player_tooltip player_id='2045857' first='Ethan' last='Hillsman'] Joliet West 6'5 2026

Hillsman transferred to Illinois from a prep school in Tennessee to Joliet West. He's a bouncy forward who ran the court well at the runs. Ethan had a lot of dunks. If it wasn't from fastbreaks he got them from alley oops. What I liked about his game is how he recovered missed shots off the offensive glass and tried to dunk everything at the rim.

[player_tooltip player_id='1845360' first='Rashaun' last='Porter'] DePaul Prep 2026

Porter is a physical presence who was also testing the rims on Sunday. He's strong with a good balance of skill and activity. Rashaun didn't spend a lot of time on the perimeter launching shots but he did attack off the dribble often. Looked as if he was working more on being aggressive and getting to the rim with less dribbling.

[player_tooltip player_id='1385307' first='Cameron' last='Thomas'] Mount Carmel 6'3 2025

As one of the better shooters from the day Thomas was very consistent in getting lots of elevation on his shot. Thomas made difficult look easy and routine. He's a guard that's wired to score the ball and in this open run setting, he did just that.

[player_tooltip player_id='1157224' first='Mike' last='Jones'] Chi-Prep 6'7 2025

It looked as if Jones had grown some since we last watched him play. Mike is another player who had a strong performance at the runs. He has become more skilled and gets off the floor with power and agility. Jones no doubt had the most dunks in the gym today. I believe he's grown an inch but is also more explosive and has been working on finishing around the basket. It will be interesting to see what colleges will be involved with him this year.

[player_tooltip player_id='2375627' first='Marquis' last='Vance'] Marist 6'3 2025

Was very impressed with how well Vance competes on defense in runs like this. He was active all over the court with his feet and hands. I think his chase-down block was the initial eye-opener. After that he made some shots from all three levels and showcased how high level of an athlete he was on a pair of dunks. Marquis will be a leader by example at Marist this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1845357' first='Noah' last='Mister'] Mount Carmel 2026

Mister is often viewed as a scoring guard at times. During the runs he was very balanced in his decision to either look to score or make the right pass. Noah has a second gear that he gets to when pushing the ball. He was able to get to the basket a few times and finish over bigger defenders. His ability to change pace kept guys off balance and he was able to dictate the play.

[player_tooltip player_id='2125658' first='Kendall' last='Meyers'] Marist 6'4 2027

Up an up-and-coming wing who has good upside. Watching him compete with the older and more skilled guys showed that he belongs on the court. Meyers showed good handle and touch from the perimeter and mid-range. As he continues to grow and start showing athleticism his game now still translates as player who can produce.

[player_tooltip player_id='2631983' first='Camren' last='Marlow'] Julian 6'5 2025

A rather unknown player Camren shows flashes of game in the runs. He's an athlete that competes on both sides of the ball. Marlow had moments in the run where he hit two three-pointers and even finished a tomahawk dunk in the lane. As he continues to improve his confidence his game will expand.

Dylan Fullbright Mount Carmel 6'0 2026

Fullbright is a quick guard who can get to the basket and made some difficult layups look easy. He played within himself and didn't try to do anything flashy. A well-composed guard.
