2028 Watch List: Bigs

A long, athletic forward, Evans is one of the better rim-runners in the class at this point. He's a mobile, switchable defender with great length that he uses to contest shots and hold his own against smaller players. He rebounds well on both ends and can lead the break after pulling down a defensive board.     A young big man who can score inside and out, Herrig is a matchup problem with his combination of size, shooting, ball-handling, and footwork. He's the type of skilled offensive player that the offense can flow through, as he sees the floor well and is a willing passer. Defensively he can defend just about every spot on the floor, using his length to make life difficult for smaller players, and his strength and toughness allow him to bang with bigger bodies.     A big, skilled lefty, Heying does a great job using his frame to carve out space on the block for easy finishes. He does a nice job keeping the ball high on his post touches or after pulling down a rebound. He can handle the ball fairly well for a young big man with his size, and he sees the floor well.     A 6-2 big man who sets hard screens, Lawrenson has soft hands and is really good as a roll man in ball screens. He finishes at the rim with either hand, and he does a nice job using his big, physical frame to carve out space on the glass.     Roorda is a skilled big man who can do a little bit of everything on the offensive end of the floor. He scores on the block against smaller defenders, takes bigger defenders off the dribble, and can step out and knock down shots off the catch. He has really good footwork and touch on his post touches, and he does a great job running the floor in transition, beating the defense down the floor for easy buckets. He's also a great rebounder on both ends of the floor.     An interior post presence with length and good size, Schaecher could make an early impact for the Jays. He's active on the glass on both ends of the floor, high-pointing the ball and snatching rebounds seemingly out of nowhere. He can step out and stretch the floor a bit, with a high release on his jumper, and he has shown some ability to create plays off the dribble against bigger defenders.     Scott has a smooth stroke from 3-point range, showing some potential as a pick-and-pop option for the Rams as early as this season. He has good size and is a strong, physical forward who rebounds really well on both ends.     Severson is a physically imposing young big man who can control the game on both ends of the floor with his blend of size, strength, athleticism, and talent. He has good footwork and touch on post touches, making quick decisions on the catch, and he does a nice job recognizing the double coming early and making good passes out of the post. He can also score by putting the ball on the floor against bigger defenders and attacking the rim, or by shooting over smaller defenders from 3-point range. He's a fantastic rebounder on both ends of the floor as well.     Spencer is a really good rebounding forward on both ends of the floor, making great contact on his boxouts and really burying his matchup before going to grab the board. He can finish through contact at the rim and has some floor-stretching ability.     Wade is a pretty raw offensive player, but he has tremendous size for a young big man, already listed at 6-7. He's a good athlete who runs the floor hard and tries to establish early post position. He can score going over either shoulder on the block, has some shooting ability, and is a really good rim protector already, rotating well and contesting shots without fouling.
