After a full spring and summer of club basketball and some high-level individual and team fall events, we updated our Southern California rankings for the class of 2025. We added 25 players to the rankings and a handful of prospects made big leaps up the rankings' ladder. Below we break down the top guard prospects who were added to our latest update.

[player_tooltip player_id='2571694' first='Wesley' last='Waddles'] | Viewpoint

Waddles broke out in a major way this summer playing for BTI. The 6-foot-6 wing has a long, wiry frame, fluid movement and athleticism and his ability to stretch the floor to the three-point line and knock down mid-range jumpers led to us slotting him at No. 33 overall in SoCal's 2025 class. Waddles might still be under-the-radar when it comes to Division I recruitment, but the skilled swingman should make his way on to recruiting boards across the country because of his immense upside.

[player_tooltip player_id='1630638' first='Ashton' last='McCullough'] | Oak Hills

McCullough returns to SoCal's high desert after a season at Rosemary Anderson Prep in Oregon and immediately brings an elite playmaking force to Oak Hills' backcourt. The 6-foot-4 combo guard operates with great pace and a high basketball IQ and his combination of size, length and athleticism gives him an advantage over most other guards he matches up against. We slotted McCullough at No. 41 upon his return to the region.

[player_tooltip player_id='1630705' first='Malachi' last='Knight'] | Leuzinger

Knight has improved dramatically over the last 12 months and the refinement of his shooting, handling and overall ability as a playmaker for himself and teammates earned him a spot in our Top 50. Knight has great size for the shooting guard/wing position at 6-feet-5 and still has plenty of untapped potential to dive in to.

[player_tooltip player_id='2571720' first='PJ' last='Jourdain'] | Cathedral Catholic

Jourdain emerged over the spring and summer as a high-level spot up and off-dribble shooter from three-point range. The 6-foot-3 shooting guard gets great lift on his jump shot and has fluid mechanics and a smooth release which generates great rotation and touch. Jourdain's combination of size, length and skill makes him an intriguing prospect to track at the Division II level.

[player_tooltip player_id='2571723' first='Samori' last='Guyness'] | Los Alamitos

Guyness had himself a breakout season for Los Alamitos high school as a junior and the steady, high IQ point guard should see plenty of NAIA, Division III and Division II recruitment this season. The 6-foot-1 senior has a solid fundamental base, is a great decision-maker in transition offense, which is even more impressive when you watch the speed in which Los Alamitos plays.

[player_tooltip player_id='2571725' first='Gabe' last='Gutierrez'] | Bakersfield Christian

Gutierrez can be categorized as an elite shooter and big time scorer. The Bakersfield-area prospect can fill up the scoring column in a hurry and in a variety of ways. His ability to knock down deep three-point shots opens up space for him to get to a consistent mid-range jumper and to the rim where he can score craftily over rim protectors.

[player_tooltip player_id='2571729' first='Porter' last='Hansen'] | San Clemente

Hansen is one of the more under-the-radar prospects in Orange County and could be one of the better scorers in the region this season. The 6-foot-3 combo guard has deep range on his three-point shot and his quick release off the catch and off the dribble allows him get his shot off with defenders draped all over him. Hansen showed at the California Live event over the summer that he is also a legitimate playmaker, as well.
