August 19th-20th Cedric Cobb Sr and I had the 7th annual Southwest Basketball Camp at the Phhacility in Phx, AZ. 120 players from a few states came to gain exposure in front of college coaches and scouts plus compete versus some top end players over the two days.

Each player competed in 5 games for the two days plus 60 competed in an extra All-Star Game. (Top-20, Top-40 and a Non-Senior All-Star Game)

We take a look at each team's standouts.

Played/Made Top-20 Game

[player_tooltip player_id='2219497' first='Jaylon' last='Dean-Vines'] Phhoenix Prep (Pictured)

There are high level athletes and NBA athletes. Jaylon is definitely an NBA athlete. He had some Dominique Wilkins/Vince Carter-esque type of stuff as he literally glides in the air with grace after his burst to the basket off the dribble. He can also hit the three with range but he also defends. He had some of the best blocks I have seen in years from a guard. He tracks the ball and times his opponents and will swat it away versus other top athletes showing who the real alpha is.

[player_tooltip player_id='2534858' first='Andy' last='Colvin'] Phhoenix Prep

The Indiana native is a good sized power forward who showed a little bit of everything. He will shoot it from the three point line plus play inside with facing up from elbow and in or back to the basket with soft hands and footwork. He can handle it and take it coast to coast and will flush it down easily.

Played/Made Top-40 Game

[player_tooltip player_id='2275986' first='KJ' last='Fauske'] Seton Catholic

A combo guard with a high IQ and high skill. He was arguably the best shooter at the camp with picture perfect form. He squares to the rim like you should and lets it fly with range. He doesn't lack confidence and will connect two to three in a row in different stretches during the same game.

Played/Made Non-Senior Game

[player_tooltip player_id='2322523' first='Joe' last='Miller'] Saguaro

A physical power forward is a little undersized but skilled and tough. He uses his length and brute strength to rebound and can score inside the paint. He runs the floor and will score in transition plus he can shoot it from the perimeter too.

Other Standouts

[player_tooltip player_id='1285501' first='Cezer' last='Sotomayor'] AZ Compass Prep Grind Session

He could not make day-2 but he would have definitely been in one of the top-two all-star games. He scores with hesitation dribbles and gets to the basket. He plays the game from the neck up with a high feel. He can hit the catch three and pull-up from mid-range. He plays on off the ball seamlessly.

[player_tooltip player_id='2325957' first='Tanner' last='Morris'] ALA-Gilbert North

A tough and physical wing forward has his big brothers skill and motor to compete. He fights inside with his long arms and his sturdy frame to rebound and gain extra passes. He can rip thru and get to the basket and make shots from deep. Stock up for Morris.

[player_tooltip player_id='2534830' first='Takobi' last='Benton'] Corona del Sol

A combo guard with a quick handle. He has a sneaky quick burst and will get into the paint and use the floater game. He will give a ball fake and get downhill. He will make some shots from the perimeter and play hard on defense.

[player_tooltip player_id='1674466' first='Connor' last='Morris'] ALA-Gilbert North

A bigger wing forward unfortunately got injured and could not play games on Tuesday. He can shoot the three off the catch or pull and get to the basket with his size. He defends multiple positions and will rebound. He will be the main focus at ALA-GN this year. He also was on pace to be in one of the top-two all star games.
