SWBC: Team Arizona Standouts

August 19th-20th Cedric Cobb Sr and I had the 7th annual Southwest Basketball Camp at the Phhacility in Phx, AZ. 120 players from a few states came to gain exposure in front of college coaches and scouts plus compete versus some top end players over the two days.   Each player competed in 5 games for the two days plus 60 competed in an extra All-Star Game. (Top-20, Top-40 and a Non-Senior All-Star Game)   We take a look at each team's standouts.   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">We start with Team Arizona</h2>   Played/Made Top-20 Game   [player_tooltip player_id='1875722' first='Ethan' last='Ulrich'] Skyline Prep   A big time scorer who will rattle in triples one by one. He has deep range and a happy trigger. He uses his athleticism and stronger frame to get to the basket. He is very good in transition and can throw it down. He uses his twitch and aggression to defend the ball.   [player_tooltip player_id='1986845' first='Mason' last='Kendrick'] Arcadia   A strong framed scoring guard plays with a big motor to compete and to rebound out of his area. He gets many extra opportunities for his team. He can hit the three off the pull or catch. He will defend multiple positions, makes advanced passes and had a good showing.   [player_tooltip player_id='1274847' first='Adam' last='Hubbard'] Phhoenix Prep   A very long combo guard who has a strap. He had one of the prettier strokes at the camp and he went on his own personal runs. He hit five deep balls off the catch with a quicker release in the Top-20 game. He uses his length in the passing lanes and can throw it down on the break.   [player_tooltip player_id='1896209' first='Adam' last='Grissom'] Phhoenix Prep OTE   A versatile all-around player does a little bit of everything. He has elite size for a bigger wing and can handle it. He can score in the post, hit the three, take it off the glass and go coast to coast. His skill keeps evolving and he is taking more pride in his defense.   [player_tooltip player_id='1450562' first='Jacori' last='Ervin'] Phhoenix Prep OTE (Pictured)   The big man was a load to handle inside the paint. He uses his sheer size to score versus smaller players and can bully them in the post. He also has skill as he can face-up from mid-range and throw it down easily with alley-oops. Update-he went to the 2024 class and committed to Pima CC.   Played/Made Top-40 Game   [player_tooltip player_id='1430450' first='Elijah' last='Brush'] Hamilton   A high academic wing forward plays with a big IQ. He moves the ball and plays the right way. He will catch and shoot it from the three point line and rebound well in his area. He makes smarts reads with the ball and moves without the ball to free himself up.   Played/Made Non-Senior Game   [player_tooltip player_id='2432568' first='Cyler' last='Jessup'] Valley Christian   A quick and elusive combo guard who is clearly still growing. He moves the ball well and can score. He can hit the three off the catch and burst past his defender and kick it to a shooter. He expends a lot of energy on the ball defensively.   [player_tooltip player_id='2390672' first='Cazell' last='Henderson'] Phhoenix Prep   A very fast end to end pure point guard. He is extremely quick with the ball in his hands and can get downhill. He can score it with his right or left hand. He can shoot the three off the catch and brings energy with good size for position.   Other Standouts   [player_tooltip player_id='2533599' first='Rowan' last='Reuwer'] Camelback   A scoring guard will stick his nose in and rebound. He scores off offensive rebounds and will quickly put it back as a true rebound chaser for position. He can also shoot it from the perimeter from the three point line off the catch.
