<p>Here are some of the top 2028 prospects (currently freshmen) in New Mexico for the upcoming 2024-25 season:</p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2714567' first='Isaiah' last='Brown'], Sandia</strong>: Brown emerged last season as one of the top young scorers in the state as an 8th-grader. He was a lights out shooter from beyond the arc, connecting on 86 3 pointers. In fact, 77.5 percent of his field goals last season were 3-pointers. Outstanding long-distance shooter. Sandia actually had two prominent 8th-graders last season with <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2714580' first='Gad' last='Harris']</strong> averaging 6.7 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. The Matadors are going to be a very intriguing team in 2024-25 and for the next several years. </p>

<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2330374' first='Jermy' last='Jones'], Tucumcari</strong>: Another intriguing team to watch in 2024-25 is Tucumcari. The Rattlers didn't have a senior on its roster last season, so everybody is theoretically back. Jones was one of two 8th-graders who saw playing time for Tucumcari in 2023-24. His assist-to-turnover ratio was an impressive 7-0. In other words, he didn't commit a turnover all season. Look for Jones to make a greater impact in 2024-25. </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2111672' first='Caden' last='Miller'], ABC Prep</strong>: An outstanding summer has put Miller, a dynamic and explosive 6-foot-0 guard, squarely on the radar of Division I programs. Earlier today, he was offered by North Texas. A year ago, he was offered by Adams State. In four games at an event in Kansas City this summer, Miller averaged 28 points per game and connected on 24 3-pointers. He's also a very good defender who knows how to harass the ball handler and steal the basketball at key moments. </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2714561' first='George' last='Smith'], Robertson</strong>: Smith is an exceptional young athlete. This fall, he's expected to be a major contributor to the Cardinals' varsity football team as a promising running back. Once football season is complete, he'll turn his attention to Robertson hoops. As an 8th-grader, he averaged 5.2 points, 1.9 assists and 1.5 rebounds per game. Very good numbers. Smith gained valuable experience, which he can utilize as a freshman. </p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2313546' first='Darius' last='Steverson'], ABC Prep</strong>: After helping Cleveland to the No. 3 seed for the Class 5A playoffs in March as an 8th-grader, Steverson committed to ABC Prep in late May. Older brother Daniel, a 2025 prospect, has been offered by Air Force. Darius was outstanding at a summer circuit event in Chicago this summer, drawing raves from scouts and evaluators. With ABC Prep's resources now available to him, the guess here is Steverson will develop into a big-time college prospects over the next couple of years. </p>
