Tufts Elite Camp: Day 1 Standouts Part Two

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Tufts University had day one of their elite camp on Saturday, July 21st. There were more than 50 kids in the gym, and definitely a bunch of D3 hoopers. Here is part two of Saturday's standouts. He's big and strong but has the handle and athleticism necessary to blow by defenders and penetrate the lane. Once he gets there, Beard Jr. does a great job playing off of two feet and making the right decision for his teammates; he's an unselfish passer with great vision and instincts. Beard Jr. can also hit the open shot off the catch, making him a really solid role player. He's got an incredibly quick release and is very accurate from deep. That skill alone should get him onto a D3 roster, especially because he knows how to move without the ball and pass as well. He's still working on his skills with the ball, but those could come along with time. He got by defenders with utter ease and then showcased some really nice elevation at the rim. Definitely an under the radar athlete who has excellent body control at the hoop, even when larger defenders meet him in the air. Wertz can also shoot it well from three and is unselfish with the pass. I could imagine Wertz at the highest level D3 there is, or even at a D2 school somewhere. He has a really solid feel for the game and understands passing angles; he was really effective all day at the high-post finding teammates for easy layups and shots. Concemi can also stretch the floor from three – his shot doesn't look pretty but he gets it off quickly and with solid accuracy. He has really solid timing on the boards and great hands on the defensive end. He can, at times, be too aggressive going for steals on that end, but he definitely created some easy points for his squad. Craig used his strength well to get to the paint, but the outside shot is still a work in progress. He won't wow you with any one specific skill, but he can do everything decently well offensively. He's an especially smart passer who did a great job entering the ball into the post when the defense was fronting. Defensively, Daniel is very versatile and can guard multiple positions.
