The 2024 Phenom Summer Havoc was held in Bermuda Run, North Carolina this weekend giving the chance for some of the top Grassroots programs in the Carolinas to play in front of College Coaches for the final time this Summer. The state of North Carolina was well-represented across multiple age groups with high-level teams and talented prospects in action. Check out these 5 in-state prospects who stood out to me on Saturday:

[player_tooltip player_id='1916754' first='Carson' last='Evans'] of Team EAT leads off my list of North Carolina Standouts from the Phenom Summer Havoc. In a matchup with Next Level Elite Poole, Carson put up 26 Points giving them headaches on the defensive end. He looked like a score-first guard on most possessions, but he did show some good ball-handling qualities. Most of all was his vision, where he had some very impressive reads and tallied 3 Assists. Evans is capable of scoring at all three levels of the floor with his ability to shoot over defenders behind the arc, confidently pull up in the mid-range, and craftiness in finishing around the rim.

Zion was also playing with Team EAT this weekend in Bermuda. He impressed as a wing with his ability to score the ball while not needing it in his hands often. Williams was in attack mode and didn't waste his dribbles on his way to putting the ball in the basket. He has good size to shoot over defenders and is not shy of contact when finishing close to the rim. Zion also did a solid job on the defensive end, forcing turnovers and getting out in transition. In his squad's overtime loss to Next Level Elite Poole, Williams had 19 Points.

Tyrin has been a beast for the Mint Hill Lakers all Grassroots Season on the Phenom Hoops Circuit. I first discovered him at the Phenom Challenge in Spartanburg, South Carolina, so when I made the trip to Bermuda Run, he was someone I needed to see again. I watched a matchup with Next Level Elite Royal, and Graham put the team on his back at times on his way to a 21-point performance despite playing up a class. Although he is most effective with the ball in his hands running the offense, he can play off the ball as well due to his pure shooting ability. Tyrin also displayed good vision and tremendous open-floor speed as well.

I was very impressed by Swindell this weekend in Bermuda Run. Despite the fact that he was the youngest player on the floor, Neal looked bigger and stronger than anyone else. He was dominant on both ends of the floor and in a multitude of ways. On offense, he was an efficient scorer from the inside out, knocking down multiple threes or using his body to work in the post. But it was his defensive prowess that stood out to me most. He showed lots of versatility, mainly guarding the opponents' Center but also switching onto guards and causing them problems too. He has great instincts as a shot blocker and the athleticism to reach shots others can't. In [program_tooltip program_id='2078544' first='Team' last='Swish']'s matchup with Upward Stars Gold, Swindell finished with 19 Points and 4 Blocks.

Caiden is my final North Carolina Standout from this weekend in Bermuda Run. He is a smooth and crafty Guard who had lots of success for [program_tooltip program_id='2078544' first='Team' last='Swish'] getting the ball downhill and into the paint. Once he got there, Brewer showed a good balance of finishing around the rim, dumping off to his big men, or kicking out to shooters. He sees passing lanes very well and has developed good chemistry with his teammates to know when and how they want the ball. From a scoring standpoint, Caiden is not shy of bigger players protecting the rim and can use skill to finish creatively around them or get to the free-throw line. He put up 15 Points, 8 Rebounds, 4 Assists, and 3 Steals in the loss to Upward Stars Gold.
