The Summer Finale of the Great American Shootout (GASO) had a large variety of players represented. There was everything from local travel teams to shoe sponsored teams that participated. Because of the mixture of teams, a massive amount of players hit the hardwood. One of those organizations was [program_tooltip program_id='2076374' first='OWE' last='']. They had various players who impressed with their game play. In this review of the GASO live weekend, we will look at players from the program who impressed during the weekend.

[player_tooltip player_id='1347173' first='Jaden' last='Williams'] ([program_tooltip program_id='2076374' first='OWE' last=''] EYCL) - Williams may have had the best weekend of any Louisiana player between the two teams. His offense and defense was the best I had seen him play over the last three years. Williams guarded the best on each respective team [program_tooltip program_id='2076374' first='OWE' last=''] played. His lateral movement and defensive technique helped him cause several turnovers. Williams did this while providing a heavy amount of offense mostly in transition. His perimeter defense often all[program_tooltip program_id='2076374' first='OWE' last='']d him to release early and he finished with several layups. Williams found success as a high level, two-way player against high level competition all weekend.

[player_tooltip player_id='2581719' first='Darnell' last='Morris'] ([program_tooltip program_id='2076374' first='OWE' last=''] 17U) - Morris was a newer addition to the [program_tooltip program_id='2076374' first='OWE' last=''] family and he proved to be a good one. The athletic 6'3" lefty displayed that he was a multiple level scorer and sufficient ball handler in the open court. Morris exhibited a dependable jumper from the right elbow as well from the same angle behind the arc. His ability to rebound and lead in transition was helpful in the [program_tooltip program_id='2076374' first='OWE' last=''] attack as well. Morris is a crafty player who can fill a stat sheet in multiple areas. He is a good player who has a tone of upside with his talent.

[player_tooltip player_id='1209106' first='Ronald' last='Bubba Strong'] ([program_tooltip program_id='2076374' first='OWE' last=''] EYCL) - Strong displayed his ball handling, movement, and shooting acumen during his time in Carrollton. Against one of the better Adidas teams from Texas (ASAK 17U 3SSB), Strong scored 17 huge points. Bubba was very good in transition attacking solo defenders or even 1-on-2. He revealed great body control and the ability to finish through contact. His spot up shooting helped his team almost pull out the win as he cut it to one with a late three. Strong's use of screens and movement to space the floor was paramount in [program_tooltip program_id='2076374' first='OWE' last=''] EYCL going 3-1 on their trip.

[player_tooltip player_id='1347260' first='Chris' last='Shiflett'] ([program_tooltip program_id='2076374' first='OWE' last=''] 17U) - Shiflett got off to a slow start on Saturday. Consequently, he atoned for that performance by displaying his skills on and off the ball as the weekend progressed. C.J., as Chris is known as, displayed his ability to penetrate the lane and make good decisions with the ball. He either finished with a score or passed it to a player who could. Shiflett also exhibited upper body strength on the offensive boards with a couple of putbacks amid contact. His shooting behind the arc also created an advantage for his team to pull out victories. Shiflett is a high IQ, talented senior who knows the game.

[player_tooltip player_id='1680503' first='Christopher' last='Vinson'] ([program_tooltip program_id='2076374' first='OWE' last=''] 17U) - Vinson proved to be a smooth shooting guard with above average three point range while in Texas. He displayed the knack for making threes to extend the [program_tooltip program_id='2076374' first='OWE' last=''] advantage several times. Finding him as part of the secondary break was when he had great spot up opportunities. Vinson was not an aggressive dribbler and he took his time to survey the defense and found spots to attack. His scoring can be streaky but he is very good when he is on. Vinson was another player who proved he could stretch the floor effectively.

[player_tooltip player_id='1543647' first='Cooper' last='Nelson'] ([program_tooltip program_id='2076374' first='OWE' last=''] 17U) - The heady point guard of the 17U team also had a rough start to his weekend. H[program_tooltip program_id='2076374' first='OWE' last='']ver, he rebounded well using his array of slick passes and hard nosed play. While his shot behind the arc was not on, he found ways to score by offensive putbacks and scoring transition layups. His rebounds from long threes helped him find teams who were open in the paint for easy scores. Nelson has elite vision and a great feel for the game. His passing and scoring in other manners indicated as much throughout the weekend.

The [program_tooltip program_id='2076374' first='OWE' last=''] contingent in DFW was a good one. Their guards and wings all sh[program_tooltip program_id='2076374' first='OWE' last='']d a high IQ for playing the game and next level skill. This group of players served themselves well during the live period and hopefully impressed coaches during their time.
