As often we cover these events in June most times we see the same guys outperforming the rest. I took a different approach and watched several teams of guys I never covered before at Romeoville. Here are some new names in this recap of Sunday's top players from the Romeoville Shootout.

[player_tooltip player_id='1545127' first='Bradley' last='Biedke'] - Conant 2025

I was impressed with Bradley. He's a mobile big who started with defense. He blocked a shot or two and was very aggressive on the boards. Then as the game went on he became involved offensively. Scoring off tight spin moves into layups. He keeps the ball high in the post. His 15-footer also was working. Small schools need to monitor him.

[player_tooltip player_id='1552428' first='Marshawn' last='Cocroft'] - Kaneland 2026

Cocroft is a guard who surprised me with how well he defends on one end and can be so effective on the offensive side of the ball. He gets after guys 94 feet on defense and then gets the ball on offense and is shifty enough to break guys down off the bounce. Cocroft can finish around the basket with an array of layup packages and his shot looked good off the catch. He's an underrated guard who can become a solid prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id='2538983' first='Ethan' last='Henderson'] - Carmel Catholic 2025

Henderson is a workhorse forward who battles on the offensive glass. Most of the buckets I saw from him were off missed shots that he just out-hustled guys for. Ethan looked to have steady hands when going back up for putbacks. He didn't miss many shots around the basket even when there were extra defenders around. Small college prospect.

Ethan Hillsman - Joliet West 2026

Hillsman had a very productive two games that showed the type of player he can become. At 6'7 Ethan has athleticism which he displayed when he dunked on a player in his first matchup. In the second game it was his shooting from the perimeter and steady play in the post. He hit two threes early then cleaned up several rebounds on the offensive glass. Hillsman has a terrific upside to his game and he will be an exciting prospect to evaluate the next two years.

[player_tooltip player_id='1552460' first='Bryce' last='Wegrzyn'] - Libertyville 2026

Wegrzyn was an eye-opener for me. He's a solid 6'7 who's mobile and displays a good handle and agility from the perimeter. He looked good early draining two threes from the corner which got him going. Bryce started working around the basket when he had a mismatch using steady footwork and touch while fighting through contact. He finished with a strong 29 points hitting 5 threes in the game.

CJ Pittman - Payton 2028

As I tweeted Pittman is another instant impact player on the varsity level next season. His best basketball is ahead of him but now he will impact because he controls the pace of his team and makes the guys around him better. CJ is very talented because of his ability to shoot and pass while getting downhill. The 2028 class has emerged this weekend and Pittman is a key contributor to the depth.

[player_tooltip player_id='2405867' first='Teddi' last='Wetu']- Antioch 2025

Wetu is a bigger guard who can get himself going early with an athletic drive to the rim. Even if he misses the layup he gets fouled. Teddi is the type of guard who puts pressure on the defense and gets opposing big men in foul trouble early. As a playmaker he gets into the paint often and makes good reads to his teammates. Wetu can make an impact on the small college level.

[player_tooltip player_id='1874813' first='Jayden' last='Taylor']- Fenger 2027

As my second time watching Taylor this week he's is fun guard to experience. A quick twitched guard with really strong ball mechanics. He had players on their heels in transition slashing in the lane and finishing with fancy layups around defenders. Jayden also has a nice shot he displays when teams try to play off him and pack the lane. He's an impact transfer who is ready to make a splash this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2397963' first='Yusuf' last='Saleh']- Argo 2025

Saleh was terrific in the matchup against Julian. He used straight-lined drives on the baseline to sink in the defense and make sound passes to his teammates. Yusuf is an energy guy who is at his best when pushing the ball on fastbreaks, the vision and IQ to attack certain areas are key for a heady point guard like him. Small colleges should take a look at him this season.
