Prep Hoops Next NHR State Tournament was played in Minneapolis May 31-June 2. In this article, I will discuss 13 standouts from the 13U and 14U divisions. I wasn't there in person, but I did catch some action online. I left a few top names out because they have been mentioned a few times already.

Theo had a remarkable championship game, in which he scored a game-high 27 points. It was the best I've seen him play, and that's saying a lot. It came at an opportune time as well. One of the top prospects in terms of raw athleticism at Next NHR State. Theo does well in transition, and when he attacks in transition, it is going straight at the hoop, not stopping for anything.

[player_tooltip player_id='2411564' first='Knox' last='Collins'] | 5'10” PG | 2028 | [program_tooltip program_id='2078372' first='ECI' last=''] 2028 Krefting

Collins is due for a shoutout as a standout, and he and his team took home the championship at Prep Hoops Next NHR State Tournament. Listed at 5'10”, he looks a little longer than that. One of the best 2028 point guards at the tournament at handling the ball and taking care of it. An elite handle on the ball, where he can maneuver and handle heavy ball pressure. He picks his times to score and attack the defense, and when he does, he's successful most of the time. Has a nice float-game and a soft touch in the painted area.

Abner was the one of the main pieces in PJ Hoops 2029 winning the 13U championship. He was all over the boards and scoring in the paint. But his biggest impact was his defensive versatility. He's long and may have been one of the best perimeter defenders as well as an impact interior defender. He was a defensive weapon and was creating a lot of problems for the opposing offenses.

Jemierre Davis | PG | 2029 | PJ Hoops 2029

Davis was one of the best overall athletes at Next NHR State. An explosive playmaking guard that was a huge competitor on both ends of the court. A great blend of size, toughness, and athleticism. A point guard that doesn't need to score to impact the game in a huge way. He disrupts the ball-handler and uses his strength to muscle smaller guards around.

[player_tooltip player_id='2417305' first='Romeo' last='Kromah'] | 6'0” SG/Wing | 2028 | [program_tooltip program_id='2078372' first='ECI' last=''] 2028 Zimmerman

Kromah moves effortlessly and explosively on the court, and it allows him to do a lot of things. Plays in transition at a high level with his shiftiness and bounce in the paint. He can rise up and finish at 6'0”. He thrives defensively as well.

Eli Thompson | G |[program_tooltip program_id='2075431' first='D1' last='Minnesota'] 2029 3SSB

Eli doesn't pop physically, and his athleticism doesn't come to mind first, but he's a baller that can play ball and get the job done. [program_tooltip program_id='2075431' first='D1' last='Minnesota'] 2029 3SSB played up a division with the 14U group, and they went on a run, only losing one game to the runner-up ECI 2028 Zimmerman by 10 points. Thompson gives a lot of energy defensively and is flying around trying to make a play and get the ball. A good scorer that is a shot-maker.

[player_tooltip player_id='2417297' first='Logan' last='Breidenbach'] | 5'10 G | 2028 | ECI 2028 Krefting

Breidenbach is deserving of a mention. Had a nice game against Bears Tail in an important game, scoring 12 points. He's on a stacked roster, and he's more skilled than you realize. He can shoot the three well too.

[player_tooltip player_id='2417300' first='Stephon' last='Booth'] | 6'5” C | 2028 | ECI 2028 Krefting

Booth could and should be mentioned every tournament. He is a consistent producer because of his 6'5” size. His size allows him to cleanly finish around the hoop, and be an impact and consistent rebounder. Runs rim to rim pretty well. He fades a little when trying to score at times with bodies around, but he plays with a decent amount of power and can also absorb contact and push through it.

Dominic plays the game fast at all times. He has a motor that is energetic and non-stop. A guard that competes and loves to play fast up and down the court and can go coast-to-coast on his own. He can gain a step in transition and finish with his right hand off the glass. Good athleticism and movement.

Will is a slashing wing that can run the floor — and fast. He's a sprinter and has good size at an easy 6'0”. He can make any play and isn't afraid to take and make a three. A long, athletic and strong build and he plays quick from the wing and hard.

I've seen Nolan play quite a few times now, and I have to respect how consistent he is as a performer and worker on the court. He is always producing in the scoring department, and making many other plays for his team. Brings it defensively and plays passing lanes well. He's one of my favorite players on the Prep Hoops Next Circuit, and one of the more high-level finishers attacking the hoop on the circuit. Efficiency, productivity, and consistency.

Fuye is a long and skilled wing that is a legitimate shotmaker and [program_tooltip program_id='2075431' first='D1' last='Minnesota'] 2028 Grey relies heavily on his scoring and shotmaking ability. He's a three level scorer that can make shots all over the court as well as finish near the hoop around bodies. Uses his size and length to be a strong rebounder that hauls down a ton of boards. Plays under control and is a good decision-maker.

He sees the floor well and is a playmaking passer. Has a confidence to him, which accelerates his ball-handling skills and ability to be a scorer and be assertive.
