The league which begins Monday June 10th goes until June 26th and is an excellent opportunity to get a look at some of the state’s top small school players. Here’s a look at today’s standouts.
Good day one for Cummins, as he stakes early claim for 2A Player of the year. It was not his best shooting day, however he showed a ton of skill and toughness. His ability to get to the rim and finish with his off hand was as impressive, but his willingness to mix it up for tough in traffic rebounds showed an underrated toughness. He also had the play of the day, floating to the rim for a head tapping dunk.

Last year’s top shooter came from Boulder City, and Wright looks like he was ready to follow in the footsteps of State three point champ Roman Rose. He shot it easily and effortlessly from distance. The class of 2025 Marksmen was the best shooter I saw on the day.
Highlights
The Pendleton Wright backcourt did not disappoint. Any list of top ball handlers, has to include Pendleton. The shifty PG showed a nifty handle, easily navigating defenders, breaking pressure and delivering dimes to teammates.
Highlights
Young is a talented guard that flashed a lot of skill. He shot it well especially in pull up action from the top of the key. He showed some vision and shiftiness, breaking down defenders before hitting teammates with dimes.
Highlights
The more and more I see of Yakubik the more I admire his hustle. He was around the ball a lot, always seemingly getting tips and deflections. His ability to win 50/50’s combined with his rebounding prowess made him one of the standout players on the day.
