July is nearly here as June ends in less than a week. The 2025 class has talent in the backcourt who should make its mark on the hardwood next month, especially in the prep division. Here are the 2025 shooting guards to watch in the Independent and prep division.

[player_tooltip player_id='1958321' first='Brandon' last='Lee'], 6'5 Patrick School

Lee is the top-ranked prospect in the 2025 class and should make noise this July. The 6'5 guard has a smooth release on his jumper and can get hot from distance in a hurry. Lee is more than just shooter as he can also put the ball on the floor and finish around the rim. He moves well without the ball in his hands and pushes the ball well in transition. Lee is currently tied for fourth in the EYBL in scoring and is looking to carry over that scoring in July.

[player_tooltip player_id='1050413' first='Elijah' last='Brown'], 6'4 Life Center Academy

Brown had a solid spring and is looking to bring it over into July. The 6'4 guard attacks the basket strong as he can explode off the floor for dunks and is unafraid of drawing contact. Brown can also score in the mid-range and can knock down open jumpers on the perimeter. He works hard on the defensive end and fights for rebounds on both ends of the floor. Brown is an athletic guard prospect who does whatever it takes to help his team win games.

[player_tooltip player_id='1213561' first='Brendan' last='Oliver'], 6'6 Blair Academy

Oliver has the potential to play on the wing as well, making him one of the more intriguing prospects in the class. The 6'6 wing has a good first step, which he uses to get by his defender off the bounce and finishes well around the basket. Oliver uses his size to see over his defender and wastes little motion in his release. He has the length to defend multiple positions on the floor and is an underrated rebounder. Oliver is a lanky wing prospect whose ability to impact the game at both ends of the floor will help his game in a big way over the next couple of weeks.

[player_tooltip player_id='1974140' first='AJ' last='Mickens'], 6'4 Hun

Mickens has the ability to play on the ball at times, which will help his development in a big way. The 6'4 guard has a nice handle, which he uses to get to the rim off the bounce and knows how to finish around the basket. Mickens is more than just a slasher as shoots the ball with confidence and sets his feet before he shoots. He moves well without the ball in his hands and gets deflections on the defensive end. Mickens' ability to make plays with the ball in his hands gives him the potential to have a strong July.

[player_tooltip player_id='1950486' first='LJ' last='Saunders'], 6'4 Blair Academy

Saunders has the potential to breakout this July with his ability to score in the paint. The 6'4 guard has a solid handle, which he uses to get into the lane and finish at the basket. Saunders can also score in the mid-range and does not force jumpers in the halfcourt. He is an underrated passer and slides his feet on the defensive end. Saunders is a talented guard prospect whose ability to shoot the ball from the perimeter and defend the ball will help his stock over the next month.
