SG [player_tooltip player_id='2886779' first='Caden' last='Agena'] (Ballard)

Agena played well in the Bombers game against Newton, scoring 10 points and doing so in a variety of ways. He shoots it well off the catch and moves without the ball in his hands. He has a quick release and the form on his jumper is pure. He also showed some nice handles, which could give Ballard a nice secondary ball-handling piece on the perimeter alongside standout guard [player_tooltip player_id='1765518' first='Jude' last='Gibson']. Agena is a 6-1/6-2 guard with good length, and he was very active both on the glass and as a defender.

CG [player_tooltip player_id='2413557' first='Caden' last='Klein'] (Newton)

Klein is an impressive athlete in the backcourt for the Cardinals, as his impromptu dunk contest during a power outage on Saturday showed. He's a three-level scorer who can play with or without the ball in his hands, showing the ability to shoot it off the catch and dribble, or create plays off the bounce for himself and his teammates. He has a strong frame that allows him to finish through contact, and he'll contribute on the glass, especially on the defensive end.

SG [player_tooltip player_id='2519969' first='Micah' last='Mattes'] (Newton)

Mattes hit some big shots for the Cardinals, especially down the stretch against Ballard. He's a floor spacer who can shoot it both off the dribble and the catch, with the latter being where he's more dangerous. He moves well without the ball in his hands and has a quick release off the catch.

SG [player_tooltip player_id='2413535' first='Ethan' last='Vice'] (Clear Creek Amana)

Vice was assertive offensively for the Clippers, especially in their game against Waverly-Shell Rock, where he was looking to take his defender off the dribble early and often. He does a nice job changing speeds to help him get by defenders for finishes, and he was very aggressive on the glass, particularly on the offensive end. He can shoot it from deep as well, but is at his best when he's playing downhill and attacking.

PG [player_tooltip player_id='2886803' first='Brady' last='Bodensteiner'] (Waverly-Shell Rock)

A quick, fearless guard who likes to attack the rim and play downhill, Bodensteiner was impressive in the Go-Hawks game against North Polk, scoring 12 points and putting constant pressure on the opposing defender with his attacking and playmaking off the bounce. He's a skilled passer who sees the floor well, and is an active defender with good hands.

SG Eli Pederson (North Polk)

The Comets lost a ton of production to graduation, so there will be a lot of shots available this winter, and Pederson looks like he's ready to step in and take a lot of them. A good shooter who moves well without the ball in his hands, Pederson showed a quick release off the catch with good off-ball movement. He runs the floor hard in transition and does a nice job filling in the lane, and is a capable finisher at the rim with either hand.

SG [player_tooltip player_id='1978144' first='Zander' last='Murray'] (Xavier)

A 6-1 guard who has made his name as a shooter, Murray was impressive against Des Moines Christian with a different aspect of his game - dribble penetration. He was looking to attack the rim aggressively both in transition and in the halfcourt, finishing with either hand and absorbing contact. His shooting is still his biggest asset, but the increased assertiveness as a ball-handler and playmaker will make him a more dangerous weapon as a junior.

SG [player_tooltip player_id='2520006' first='Daxon' last='Weeks'] (Winterset)

Weeks played well for the Huskies on both ends of the floor throughout the weekend. He's very active at the top of their 2-3 zone, getting his hands on a lot of passes and turning defense into quick, easy offense. He's a good finisher around the rim with body control and the ability to finish with either hand. Against Des Moines Christian, it was his ability to get to the rim that was on display. Against Aplington-Parkersburg, it was his shooting that was on display, knocking down three 3-pointers, showing a quick, clean release off the catch. The junior should be an impact player on both ends this season.

SG Wes McKinney (Winterset)

Another good shooter off the catch for the Huskies, McKinney knocked down four 3-pointers in their win over Aplington-Parkersburg, showing a quick release off the catch and a lot of confidence in his jumper. He's an active defender with quick hands and feet, and he contributes on the glass despite being one of the smaller players on the floor.

PG [player_tooltip player_id='1978146' first='Hudson' last='Shull'] (ADM)

A high IQ lead guard who looks to push the tempo, Shull is a floor general who understands where his teammates need to be at all times. He's a skilled passer with great vision and instincts, handles it well, and can put the ball on the floor and attack off the dribble. He's also a good on-ball defender who moves his feet well.

CG [player_tooltip player_id='1978130' first='Hudson' last='Lorensen'] (ADM)

Lorensen was ridiculous good in a pair of viewings, averaging 22 points in those two games, which is quite the achievement with a running clock. A lefty who can fill it up in a hurry from anywhere on the floor, he has a quick release both off the dribble and the catch with range well beyond the high school line. He looks to attack the rim relentlessly and he is a high-level finisher around the rim with either hand, finishing through contact. He never gets sped up, playing at the pace that he wants to play at, and his ability to play with and without the ball in his hands makes him extremely dangerous. He'll be one of the leading scorers in 3A this winter.

SG Drew Conrad (Washington)

Conrad didn't look like a 28% 3-point shooter when we saw the Demons play, confidently knocking down 3 after 3 both off the dribble and the catch. He does a nice job utilizing off-ball screens to help free up some space, and he shot it at a high clip off the catch with a quick release and plenty of range.

SF [player_tooltip player_id='1765520' first='Cooper' last='Grimm'] (Center Point-Urbana)

I love watching Grimm play, because even when he isn't scoring, he's finding ways to put his fingerprints all over the game. A long and skilled 6-5 wing, he's a skilled playmaker who sees the floor really well, and he loves to get his teammates involved. He's a talented three-level scorer who can take over the game in that aspect when needed, scoring around the rim off the bounce, or knocking down shots from deep off the catch. He rebounds really well on both ends of the floor and can lead the break after pulling down a defensive board. His length and athleticism allow him to defend a few different spots on that end as well. He had 13 points in the Stormin' Pointers win over Pleasantville, and he made a ton of huge plays on both ends.

PF [player_tooltip player_id='2520020' first='Hayden' last='Dohlman'] (ADM)

A 6-4/6-5 big man, Dohlman showed a little bit of a face-up game throughout the weekend, stepping out to 12-15 feet and knocking down jumpers. He's an active forward who attacks the glass hard on both ends of the floor, using his big frame and soft hands to corral rebounds, and he does a nice job of staying vertical and contesting without fouling in the paint.

SF Carson Brown (Washington)

Another Washington shooter who played well, Brown, a 6-1 wing, knocked down plenty of shots off the catch as well for the Demons. He moves without the ball in his hands, has a nice frame to continue adding strength to, and he showed some ability to create off the dribble.

SF [player_tooltip player_id='2120763' first='Jack' last='McGuire'] (Pella)

McGuire turned it on in the second half of the Dutch's win over Waukee, looking to use his length and athleticism to attack the rim both in the halfcourt and in transition. He continues to improve his ball-handling and shot creation off the dribble, and his frame paired with his size and athletic ability makes him a very intriguing prospect in the 2026 class. He sees the floor well and is a talented passer, and he can provide some versatility on both ends of the floor.
