The 2024 Phenom Memorial Day Classic was held this weekend in Rock Hill, South Carolina, and I was in attendance to cover Saturday’s slate. It is one of the most balanced tournaments in the Southeast each year with high-level Grassroots Programs in action in each division. Check out which prospects stood out from the 15U Division:

headlines our list of 15U Standouts after a very good performance on Saturday Night. Kamden is a wing with good size who is always in attack mode with the ball in his hands, rarely wasting dribbles or body movements on his way to the basket. He has very long arms and strides which help him finish above defenders on offense and impact shots on defense. He finished with 12 points in a win over XLXB Saints.
Highlights
Ramey is a solid interior presence for this NLE 2027 squad. He has a high motor, lots of length, and finishes well at the basket. Malachi is slightly raw when it comes to the overall game, but his size and work ethic can cover up for a lot of his deficiencies. He was much more active on the glass in the second half, grabbing 8 total rebounds including a couple of athletic ones on the offensive end. He put up 8 points, 2 steals, and 2 blocks as well in the win.
Highlights
Upward Stars Columbia has a very talented 2027 group and Oliver is the first of three standouts from their squad. He does a little bit of everything on the floor but his ability to turn defense into offense stood out the most. He is very active on the defensive end, jumping passing lanes, corraling ball-handlers, and cleaning the boards. On the offensive end, he is a terrific passer and looks to set up teammates frequently. He had a stat sheet-stuffing game on Saturday Afternoon putting up 4 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 steals, and a block.
Highlights
Brayden specializes as a scorer on this squad and is effective in moving with and without the ball in his hands. He is a strong and confident scorer from all three levels on the floor. His jump shot is both sound and consistent, making for lots of potential as a shooter. All of his buckets came in a late-first-half flurry, going for 8 points in the game.

AJ Veal
AJ Veal
AJ was one of the most impressive prospects regardless of class in Rock Hill. He has a strong frame for a young big and was very aggressive on both ends. He was active on the glass, fought through contact for buckets in the paint, showed an ability to finish with either hand, and even displayed some athleticism and versatility around the perimeter. He put up 15 points, 7 rebounds, a block, and a steal in the win over Team Dynamic.

Jack Mevold
Jack Mevold
If it weren’t for Jack Mevold, Upward probably could’ve won by even more than they did. Mevold was a constant, calming, presence in the middle for Team Dynamic. He has a big body and is very patient with the ball in his hands. He displayed good feet and ability to finish over either shoulder in the paint. He also is a terrific free throw shooter for a young big, converting on all 6 of his attempts from the line in a 16-point outing.
