While not an exhaustive list by all means, check out some guys I felt like had great days on the big stage. Another article is to follow tomorrow to wrap up Saturday’s coverage.
Clark is continuing to put on as an unsigned senior for his NC Spartans Patton group, dropping 33 this morning and 16 in the afternoon. He’s an aggressive scorer who has absurdly long arms and is not afraid of getting to the rim or shooting the pull-up jumper. Also knows when to swing it or pull the ball out to look for the next opportunity, and overall has pretty good feel offensively. Those long arms are also what makes him a nightmare as a POA defender, causing difficulties for anybody he was matched up against.

Melville was a guy for CC Elite that I thought oozed upside and potential, while having another good day today. He wasn’t the most skillful with the ball in his hands or the best shooter, but you can see how athletic his frame is and how much a bit of growth and maturation will do for him as time goes on. He’s like a baby deer still figuring out how everything moves, but there’s a ton of potential locked up in his frame. Played hard, finished solidly at the rim, and worked hard on both ends on the glass.

Spargo had his moments today with Cap City Clutch, and the Australian prepping here in NC is a definite college level prospect. He knocked down multiple jumpers, whether that be from deep or out of the post today, showcasing a smooth, quick release that’s hard for defenders to contest because of its high release point. Was good at spacing the floor, either on the perimeter for 3 or playing out of the dunkers spot today in order to get easy buckets.
Surmons didn’t get a win today with his group, but he definitely paced them offensively, as he was the leading scorer and looked to be the most comfortable taking on the best defenders. He looked comfortable changing speeds and directions, constantly giving defenders something different to think about while either trying to get to the paint or to a pull up jumper. Solid perimeter shooter but does go through stretches where he’s hot vs. cold.

Orndoff showed he could really shoot it today in both of their games, as he scored double digits and made multiple threes in each one. A quick, fluid release helped him space the floor well and be the receipient of his group’s great ball movement consistently. When not shooting the deep ball, he looked to move, space, and back-cut when he could, getting paint touches and at the rim opportunities because of that. Played his role in their team defense, not doing too much. A solid, team-first guy that fits right in with his group.
