While Brandon Ramsey was providing excellent coverage for Prep Hoops Circuit event in Chicago over the weekend, I was in Westfield (IN) to cover the annual USA Youth Hoops IndyBall Shootout which saw many of the top in-state grassroots teams all under one roof. With that said, let’s take a look at my standouts from the IndyBall Shootout.
The long and lanky Bryce Renn Bryce Renn 6’10” | PF Terre Haute North | 2025 State IN was a highlight reel at the IndyBall Shootout. Had multiple highlight dunks that brought everyone to their feet and did it with such explosion around the rim. His length caused disruptions on the defensive end as well. If he can get stronger, he is going to be a very dangerous post to go up against. A player that could see his stock really rise this summer.
Highlights
Howard was one of the better 2025s I saw at IndyBall over the weekend. This player is just a bucket-getter at all three levels and plays with such great bounce. Uses his length at the guard spot to elevate his jumper over the defender and is great about getting his pull-up bumper going. So smooth on the ball, but can also do damage off the ball as well. Versatile guard for Progeny.
If I am being completely honest, Schelsky may have been the best pure lead guard in the gym here at the IndyBall Shootout. He is such a high IQ guard that almost everything he does on the ball, it feel like it is always the right decision. He made fantastic passes to his teammates, showed excellent court vision, and played super well off of screens. The stocky lead guard can get you a bucket at all levels too. Keep close tabs on this guard from KGE 2026.
Hiteshew continues to see his stock rise little by little each time we at Prep Hoops Indiana see him it feels like. Watched him yesterday playing for Indiana Elite Team Tradition 2026 and thought he was the best overall player on the floor for them. Even though they would end up losing, he hit some big shots from the corner three spot, attacked the defense, was strong, and overall explosive in any move he made. High upside for Hiteshew.
Highlights
Hess was one of the more aggressive players overall this weekend at IndyBall. Loved the high motor he played with as well as how physical he is around the rim either scoring through contact or going after boards on both ends. Want to see how much he can expand his offensive game next, but right now he plays his role so well for KGE 2026.
Cannady was one of the more mature guards in the gym this weekend at the IndyBall Shootout. Just a natural on the ball that shows a lot of craftiness around the basket as well. Like his ability to play as a true lead guard but also someone that can get you a bucket if needed. In a for a breakout sooner than later.
Minnett was one of the first players to really stand out for me at the IndyBall Shootout. Really liked how smooth he was both on and off the ball and thought when he was on the ball, he did a good job of splitting the defense and making good plays and tough buckets. Has a nice baseline jumper and pairs well with fellow KGE 2026 guard Treigh Schelsky Treigh Schelsky 6’0″ | PG Parke Heritage | 2026 State IN in the backcourt. Player to continue to keep tabs on.
