I was wondering what kind of talent we would see, as a few other showcases were going on in the Midwest this weekend. Upon entering the gym, those thoughts were quickly set aside. The talent level in the 2028 group was well represented at this tournament, so we focused most of our scouting efforts on that age demographic. The Jordan Division saw a pretty dominant HB Elite Black team finish out the weekend as champions.
Braden Fralick
Braden Fralick
Braden Fralick is a huge performer from whistle to whistle. He was quick to score all weekend and had great success at the mid range and beyond the arc. The pinnacle of his success this weekend was his ability to drive to the basket and create offense. He would sense a mismatch and attack and draw contact or draw a double team and dish. I would give this young man the Iron Man award for the weekend simply due to his outright hustle.
Max Lamerson
Max Lamerson
Max Lamerson had multiple excellent performances this weekend. Max is very skilled in the wing position where he can create multiple different set ups for his team to score. I listed him as a small forward, but his versatility has him playing every position on the floor. He is an extremely athletic player with a great vertical and quick feet. He has an excellent basketball IQ and often times unselfishly makes the extra pass so his team can score.
Collin Redemacher
Collin Redemacher
Collin Rademacher had an excellent scoring weekend for Northwoods. He led all scorers for the weekend averaging well over 20 points per game, including a 41 point shooting clinic on Saturday where Northwoods defeated JB Fundamentals in pool play. He is very quick off the dribble and is able to cross over his defenders very well on his way to the basket. He kept his defenders on their heels and frustrated, which led to multiple successful trips to the free throw line.
Jacob Pahl
Jacob Pahl
Jacob had an excellent weekend getting his REAL – Cotton team to the semi finals in the Jordan Division. Upon first evaluating this player, it took me until he took his first shot to realize he was right handed, which makes him very versatile off the drive. His 11 point performance against Thumb Coast Connection lifted his team to victory in a close game. What stuck out most about this young man was his level of composure and maturity. When the game got really close and somewhat chippy, he composed himself and played excellent defense.
Hudson McLean
Hudson McLean
Hudson McLean enters my scouting report as a power forward, but his versatility led him to excel at multiple positions. He was a pivotal element to HB Elite’s press break. When a big like Hudson can find passing lanes effectively as well as handle the basketball, he can make a press break look easy. A couple things that stick out to me on Hudson’s game, is his footwork and his soft touch around the basket. Multiple times this weekend he was able to clean up rebounds and score with ease, even with his opposite hand. He was also very effective at attacking from the high post position on either a downhill trip to the basket, or a dish to the corner.
