ORANGE/LOS ANGELES COUNTIES — The first installment of the Elite Hoops Association and MADE Hoops west coast circuit brought in many of Southern California's top independent programs and a handful of shoe circuit teams for a two-day club event. Below we break down some of the top guards we saw on the weekend.

[player_tooltip player_id='1337025' first='Drew last='Hall'] | Players Play 17s | 2025

The Oregon-native who recently made his way to Arizona's Basha high school stood out because of his all-around feel for the game and basketball IQ. The 6-foot-3 guard is not only a high-level shooter and scorer but he's also an unselfish playmaker who can get into the lane and find teammates out of ball screen action and in transition offense. Hall continues to elevate his game as a viable lead guard option.

[player_tooltip player_id='1956461' first='Jason' last='Crowe Jr']. | Team Why Not 17s | 2026

What's left that we haven't already written about Crowe? The 6-foot-3 lefty is one of the premier scorers in the country and he had his three-level scoring ability on full display. The sophomore has unlimited range on his three-point shot - which he can hit both off the catch and off the bounce - but his creativity off the bounce and ability to get to his spots in the mid-range area makes him such a tough player to defend.

[player_tooltip player_id='1630657' first='JJ' last='Sanchez'] | Southbay Show 17s | 2025

Sanchez was one of the most versatile players we saw on the weekend. The 6-foot-5 junior is a positionless prospect who can create for himself and teammates in a variety of different situations. Sanchez has scoring and distributing abilities out of the post as his footwork and touch allow him to score with his back to the basket but his vision and unselfishness make him an elite post passer. Sanchez can also make great reads as the ball handler in ball-screen action.

[player_tooltip player_id='2305540' first='Jovan' last='Jester'] | California Stars 17s | 2024

Jester is an underrated Southern California prospect whose breakout spring got started over the weekend. The 6-foot-3 combo guard has a pop of athleticism that allows him to slash to the rim and finish through and over rim protectors. Jester also has the feel, shiftiness and ball skills to break down defenders in isolation and create shots for himself and teammates.

[player_tooltip player_id='1956462' first='Julius' last='Price'] | Team Why Not 16s | 2026

One thing I always appreciate about Price is how hard he plays and how serious his approach is to winning. The 6-foot-2 guard plays hard and brings a toughness and decision-making factor to the floor that you look for in your primary ball-handler. Price is a strong and physical downhill driver who can absorb and finish through contact. The sophomore is also a consistent three-point shooter who can attack closeouts for paint touches and kick to open teammates.

[player_tooltip player_id='1702937' first='Rashod' last='Cotton'] | Paul George Elite 16s | 2026

Cotton has dynamic scoring feel and shot making ability. The 6-foot-2 combo guard is a crafty ball-handler who has the speed to blow-by defenders to get to the rim where he's a fearless finisher despite his lack of true size and strength. Where the sophomore separates himself from some other 2026 prospects in the state is his jump shooting off the bounce. Cotton's shiftiness keeps defenders off-balance which leads to his quick stop and pop jumper.

[player_tooltip player_id='1703073' first='Rodney' last='Westmoreland'] | Paul George Elite 16s | 2026

Westmoreland came off the bench and looked very comfortable in his role as a pass-first point guard who can really manage a game and get teammates open looks from three. The sophomore is a steady ball-handler and decision-maker with great speed with the ball in the open court. One aspect of Westmoreland's game that might go overlooked in the club setting is his ability to disrupt as an on-ball defender.
