This event is overflowing with talent but I was able to put together a list of standout guards who should be on your radar!
Keonte Douglas | HLC
Douglas was very reliable with the ball in his hands for HLC. His poise under pressure and ability to shift gear caused opponents to call off the press. He proved to be able to attack with either hand and showed great awareness with soft pull up jumpers. Most impressive was his ability to shift defenders and raise and fire from range.
Lucas Tewinkel | Team Herro
TeWinkel spaced the floor a great deal for Team Herro. He found himself open in transition and half court situations and capitalized from range. The window of time from the catch to his shot made it tough for opponents to close out. Most impressive was his ability to play make after being run off the line.
DJ Black | Powerhouse Sports
Black had the ball on a string for Powerhouse Illinois. He set the table and conducted the pace very well in the half court and in transition. When snagging rebounds he led teammates on time and on target for quick scores. His consistent court vision kept help-defenders at bay and resulted in easy baskets for himself.
Sayge Wallace | Illinois Future
Wallace spaced the floor all weekend for Illinois Future. He showed great rhythm in catch and shoot situations and knocked down quite a few meaningful shots. Off the dribble he did a great job gauging if he had enough space and when to shoot. His soft touch on floaters as well also impressive.
