79 players are new and some have moved to different states, focused on different sports or went into the 2027 class.
Of the 79 new players, only 7 fell in the top-50, 15 were in the top-100, 27 in the top-150 and the other 52 fell in the top 270.
We are learning more and more about how college coaches go about recruiting and seem to be looking for a type. Definitely not all college coaches!! But the size for the position is a big one. With players under six-feet or the under six-foot-five power forwards or the undersized wings have to be special athletes or come with an incredible skill set/shoot it with the best of them.
Obviously there are exceptions to every rule and FIT and NEED is also VERY important! Some may prefer the jitterbug tiny PG to push the rock and get the team in their sets. Some may want the high motored undersized forwards/wings who will play hard regardless of score.
Our goal at PrepHoopsAZ is to try and recognize anyone who may play college basketball. We will keep searching for new players in preseason camps/events/leagues/Prep Hoops Circuit, Arizona Top-250 EXPO, my personal Southwest Basketball Camp and during the AIA/CAA/OTE/NIBC/EIBC/Grind Session seasons.
1. 15 players have earned a D1 offer showing this class has a lot of potential for only being sophomores.
2. There are also some others who may earn their first offers this upcoming season.
4. Rankings are based on a lot of things. Production, size for position, college coaches, the eye test, ability to score and defend, instincts, IQ, how a player moves, speed, ball handling, shooting, fundamentals. length and possible upside. It is not the easiest thing to do since not all players play in the same leagues for AAU and HS. They can be in the CAA, Grind Session, EIBC, OTE and the AIA obviously has different levels. Plus AAU teams may play on National Circuits (3SSB, UAA and EYBL) or play on independent or up and coming circuits (Pangos, NxtPro, EYCL, UAA Rise, Prep Hoops, WCE, New Balance, The Stage and so on). So you put all that information together and create the rankings.
5. Of the 270 players we have 68 PG’s, 45 SG’s, 43 CG’s, 58 SF’s, 52 PF’s and only 4 C’s.
