Numerous guards in particular are maximizing their new-found opportunities and it’s a joy to watch. Here are five 15u guards (and one bonus) who people should keep an eye on:
Jazir Dickerson
Jazir Dickerson
Twitchy movement skills make Dickerson a high level defender. A receiver and defensive back in football, he can either shoot his hands to force turnovers at the point of attack or intercept passes off-ball and take it the other way for two points. Offensively, Dickerson is dangerous when he gets downhill.
Ellegood is a legit point guard, but his ability to play both on and off the ball is extremely valuable for We-R1 UAA. Playing off of others, he can catch-and-shoot from deep. And when he’s on, Ellegood shows his passing instincts and shows off his step-back jumper.

A 2027 playing for East Coast Power 16U, Graham’s greatest asset is that he can contribute to winning without needing to score. Getting rebounds, steals, and blocks is second-nature for him. His playmaking isn’t far behind, able to drive-and-kick or enter the ball into the post over the top
A smooth operator with the ball for Team Delaware, Murphy is equally physical. He drives to make players for his teammates first and to score second. But when he does call his own number, he can absorb contact, draw the foul, and make the free throw.

Starling from Sideline Cancer is a tough combo guard with some flare. He crashes the boards, gets into his man’s chest defensively, and initiates the contact on his way to the cup. But he can get to his pull-up jumper a couple ways and hit teammates in-stride with bounce passes too.
The three-sport athlete (football & baseball) is an all-around ballplayer for We-R1 UAA. His strength allows him to push around guards and handle wings and undersized bigs on defense. He can also read and react off of two feet offensively, opting to distribute or pump-fake and score.
