There were big time players that had big time championship games, that are ready to showcase themselves in grassroots season. Let’s look at some players that were in the state finals that everyone should be ready to watch this spring and summer.
Blackwell helped his Warren Lincoln team win a state championship. He paced his team with a game high 24 points in the 53-39 title game. He’s a smooth guard that can take advantage of matchups by both scoring and distributing. Blackwell shot at a high percentage in the championship game and will do the same during grassroots season.
There will be a very smart D1 coach somewhere that will be very happy that Barnes is on their roster. Defense translates to the next level and Barnes is one of the best perimeter defenders that I’ve seen, and not just in Michigan. His defense was critical to OLSM’s state title run and in a sometimes offensively dominated grassroots season, Barnes will still be shutting people down.

It feels like he’s been on paper a bit lately, and deservedly so. He should be ranked and will be. He didn’t have a huge title game, but he didn’t need to. Goins did what he needed to do and matched the elite quickness and athleticism of Old Redford, all while playing a true team style of game prototypical of Brandywine basketball. He’s a player to keep a close eye on this spring and summer.
Jaylin Muldrow

Muldrow’s team may have lost in the state championship, but he certainly sent a message. He had a big game on the big stage, scoring a team high 14 points while grabbing 5 rebounds and playing 32 minutes without a single turnover. Muldrow is bouncy around the rim and can attack with both hands. He can pressure the ball with quick feet and good defensive vision. It’ll be fun to watch him ride the momentum into spring.

Blanker had an incredible performance in the the championship win, notching an 11 point and 12 assist double-double. And despite being under 6’0″, he played big grabbing 7 rebounds in the game putting him 3 boards shy of a triple-double. Blanker has also become a high energy defensive stopper on the perimeter. He has a lot of momentum right now and he could ride that right into grassroots season.
