The Venom Rankings Run is a unique showcase style game designed to identify players for current and future Prep Hoops Rankings. Players will participate in showcase games against other players in their respective classes. The event is the perfect opportunity for players looking to either get themselves into the rankings, or increase their current rankings. The event takes place March 10th at Mojave High School in North Las Vegas. The event has had a ton of interest, here’s a look at some of the top players participating in this year’s Venom Rankings Run.
Townsend is coming off a strong freshman season that saw him spend some time playing Varsity. He’s been good while participating in previous Prep Hoops events, and plays everything with a competitive spirit. I expect the driver, slasher to be a factor in the 2027 game.
Highlights
Really excited to see Reed play. The long athletic wing is a potential prospects with the ability to rise from this event. Reed is long and runs the floor fluidly. He can score in transition and has begun developing his faceup game. The long, agile prospect should have success in the wide open free flowing showcase style game.
Fresh off a state title with Gorman, the PG will compete in the event. Johnson is an Uber athletic player with open court scoring ability. The number 1 PG in our class of 2027 is chomping at the bit to compete. He plays with a ton of speed, mental toughness and competitive spirit. He’ll be one of the main players to watch at the event.
Ewell is a prospect that many will be keeping an eye on. He has a high IQ, can make plays, defend and rebound. Because of his ability to stuff stat sheets, look for Ewell to be a potential MVP candidate at the event.
Really excited to see Borders after not catching him during the HS season. He’s the type of player capable of having success with the ball in his his hands, or as a finisher. Don’t be surprised to see the talented guard leave the event with a number before his name.
Highlights
When you think of development, Walker is the perfect candidate. His development has a chance to come full circle during the run. Walker plays the glue guy role for BC, but has the opportunity to flash additional skill during the event.
Highlights
Williams is coming off a terrific freshman season that saw him have an impact for Basic. The shifty PG has a chance to be one of the better on ball defenders at the event.
Jennings will easily be one of the most intriguing prospects at the camp. The talented low post player should be tough to handle on the block, and the interior in general. After a season where he played sparingly at Shadow, the rankings Run could signal a springboard into his sophomore year.
Highlights
The lefty is coming off a terrific year for Centennial. He plays hard and with a chip regardless of the setting so I expect nothing less during the event. The PG is looking to use his defense and shot making to improve his 2025 ranking during the event.
