This week I viewed seven games. The games I viewed were on Monday I watched Eduprize defeat Bella Vista Select 64-45 in the CAA Final-4 Wednesday I watched Canyon View defeat Cholla 92-56. Friday I viewed Rancho Solano Prep defeat Arizona Lutheran 54-47 in the 2A Semis, San Tan Charter defeat Phoenix Christian 55-39 in the 2A Semis and Basha defeat Desert Mountain 78-68 in the OPEN Elite-8. Finally on Saturday I viewed San Tan Charter defeat Rancho Solano Prep 69-54 to win the 2A Chip and Valley Christian defeat Gilbert Christian 81-65 to win the 3A Chip.

Here were the Senior Guard Standouts from the week

[player_tooltip player_id='1152187' first='Luke' last='Shaw'] Valley Christian

A true combo guard with an elite feel to make plays. He seems to always make the correct read over and over. He takes long strides to the basket with euro steps thru contact. He will stop and go as he changes speeds so well to get the defense off balanced. He will shoot it from deep with perfect ball rotation. He had an impressive 29 points 9 assists and 7 rebounds.

[player_tooltip player_id='1036000' first='Khalon' last='Johnson'] Eduprize

A supreme athlete had some video game like dunks on the break. He had a couple rim rattlers that I questioned if he would break it down. He gets downhill in traffic to score with his tighter handle and stop and pop from mid-range with good elevation. He has a real motor to compete on defense to collect steals, he takes charges and he makes it very hard to score on him.

[player_tooltip player_id='1131993' first='Izaih' last='Johnson'] Basha

A scoring senior lead guard came up big in the Elite-8. He can pull-up on a dime from mid-range, shoot it off the dribble from the arc and had one of the best moves with a slick wrap around behind the back into a floater. He is tough to rebound with a stocky frame and brings leadership. Stock up.

[player_tooltip player_id='1131992' first='Sam' last='Zanoni'] Basha

A wing forward had a very good night off the bench. He can dribble drive and score on contested layups, score off offensive rebound put backs and controls the glass with sneaky athleticism. The lefty can also shoot it from the perimeter.

[player_tooltip player_id='2107071' first='Dasio' last='Gonzales'] Eduprize

The teams specialist let it fly from the distance with his great size for position and pretty stroke. He is best off the catch with range but he has a good feel to make plays for others and moves the ball like you should.

[player_tooltip player_id='2123443' first='Sergio' last='Ramirez'] Canyon View

A lefty scoring guard had a big night. He scored 20 points with mid-range jumpers, and-1's in traffic and hit some tough step backs from the three and off the catch. He stepped up in a big way with [player_tooltip player_id='1150852' first='DeNali' last='McNeal'] only playing limited minutes for the game.

[player_tooltip player_id='1817666' first='Stephan' last='Iron Shell'] Arizona Lutheran Academy

A scoring guard is a tough cover. You have to get him off the line but he will still score with driving layups and will create his own shot in the lane using his sturdy frame.

[player_tooltip player_id='1490883' first='Luis' last='Guerrero'] Arizona Lutheran Academy

A diminutive scoring lead guard is tough and leads by example. He scores with speed drives in heavy traffic with layups getting downhill with his left or right hand. He had a good career leading to many wins.

[player_tooltip player_id='1305182' first='Jace' last='Hagen'] Phoenix Christian

An athletic combo guard can score and defend. He uses his length and quick twitch to keep his opponents in front of him. He will score with blow by layups, pull-up from the three and rebounds well for his position.

[player_tooltip player_id='1194767' first='Jake' last='Miller'] Rancho Solano Prep

A sniper from the three point line gets his shot off in a blink of an eye. He is sneaky athletic to rebound. He even made a four-point play. He is slippery off the ball to the basket and has a huge IQ to free himself up. He was steady scoring it in the semis and finals.

[player_tooltip player_id='1216991' first='Sagith' last='Vargas'] Rancho Solano Prep (Pictured)

A senior lead guard is tough as nails. He will rise up from mid-range with high elevation and the pull-up from 17-feet is his sweet spot. He can euro step to the basket and takes contact well with his toughness.

[player_tooltip player_id='2359611' first='Caleb' last='Schinker'] Gilbert Christian

A newcomer for me can score it from all levels. He will hit the catch three, dribble drive to the basket and use the floater plus pull-up mid-range. He also has good length to defend multiple positions. He scored 9 points.
