All season, Evan Brown Evan Brown 6'1" | PG Whitman | 2025 State MD has remained a consistent, steadying force for the Whitman Vikings showcasing the qualities that make him an ideal lead ball handler. The 6’2 pg is intelligent, decisive and precise on the court. He’s incredibly skilled, made evident by his ability to move well without the ball, break down the defense and create opportunities for himself and teammates — particularly alongside dynamic counterpart Thomas Farrell Thomas Farrell 6'0" | SG Whitman | 2024 State MD .
He possesses a lethal first step, equally adept driving left or right with remarkable body control and balance finishing at the rim. Brown’s shooting mechanics allow him to excel even against tight defense. He routinely hits tough layups while absorbing contact from defenders. He can pull up on a dime, with elevation and touch that make him a threat from anywhere on the floor.
Defensively, Brown has quick hands, using turnovers to fuel fast breaks. He’s not the bulkiest defender, but his positioning and resilience help him maintain his ground and disrupt opposing players effectively.
Despite being a junior, Brown already has the maturity and skill set of a college guard. With another year to lead the Whitman Vikings — alongside teammate Titian DeRosa Titian DeRosa 5'8" | PG Whitman | 2025 State MD , Brown is poised to elevate his game even further.
Julian King Julian King 6'7" | SG Bowie | 2024 State MD
Julian King Julian King 6'7" | SG Bowie | 2024 State MD ‘s versatility stands out on the court. With a multifaceted skill set, King makes himself indispensable by being in the right place at the right time. He demonstrates a keen sense of timing and positioning, transitioning seamlessly between roles to make high IQ plays. Whether sinking a spot-up jumper, or driving assertively to the basket and finishing explosively above the rim — King does it all.
He’s equally impressive defensively, leveraging his powerful frame to shut down driving lanes and using his athleticism to stifle shooters with aggressive closeouts. He’s a reliable rebounder, capable of securing possession and initiating fast breaks himself. He plays with selflessness, prioritizing team play. The 6’6 senior is a strong worker capable of impacting the game on both ends of the floor. King is currently getting looks at the DIII level, including Goucher College in Baltimore, but I could see him at a higher level with a year of JUCO ball.
Wherever he ends up, he’ll be an instant plus for energy and athleticism.
Frederick sophomore JJ Addison JJ Addison 6'5" | SF Frederick | 2026 State MD has already captured the attention of DI recruiters with undeniable talent and potential. With confidence and maturity beyond his years, his style of play is characterized by an innate ability to score.
Offensively, Addison thrives attacking the basket, playing with pace and using exceptional footwork and body control to finish strongly around the rim. Being able to both drive to the hoop and pull up for mid-range jumpers adds a layer of unpredictability to his game when coupled with his advanced ball handling. Addison is an explosive athlete, soaring above defenders for highlight-reel finishes.
He also possesses playmaking instincts, finding open teammates with smart passes and playing with seemingly unending reserves of energy. His jump shot can become a more lethal weapon with practice, but Addison stands as a clear DI prospect with the skill, athleticism, and work ethic to thrive at the collegiate level.
Tremain Rowles
The Bowie Bulldogs have an incredibly talented squad featuring players like combo guard Tremain Rowles. Rowles emerged as a legitimate college prospect with a diverse skill set that embodies the modern guard prototype. Equipped with a consistent three-point shot and the game to transition smoothly between playmaking and scoring roles, Rowles has a remarkable ability to adapt to the demands of each game.
He’s improved his ball handling to become a potent scorer, capable of stretching the floor and creating scoring opportunities for himself and teammates. Defensively, he excels at his position, using length, active hands, and defensive instincts to disrupt and challenge opponents.
Rowles’ emergence as a leader for Bowie has been instrumental in guiding his team to success, evidenced by their impressive victory over Broadneck in the 4A East Regional Finals. His combination of scoring, defensive presence and leadership qualities, make him a legitimate prospect for lower division college teams looking for guard help.
Cayden Hargrove Cayden Hargrove 6'5" | PF Wise | 2025 State MD
Despite playing along some elite guards who often dominate ball-handling duties, Cayden Hargrove Cayden Hargrove 6'5" | PF Wise | 2025 State MD has flashed enough on ball talent — demonstrating comfort and confidence in both half-court and transition settings, to emerge as an interesting wing prospect. At 6’5, he commands attention from 15 feet and in, with a smooth touch on his mid-range and floater game.
His ability to navigate one-on-one matchups and make sound decisions under pressure underscore the potential there as a scorer and playmaker. Hargrove’s selfless demeanor and willingness to sacrifice personal touches for the sake of team balance has helped propel the Wise Puma’s to incredible success this year.
Defensively, he has the physical tools to excel, but inconsistency in engagement can hampers his impact on that end of the floor. Hargrove has the potential to become an impact defender and a catalyst for transition opportunities, but his potential as a rebounder and perimeter shooter remains areas of growth. This summer he’ll have the opportunity to improve his conditioning and extend his shooting range further out to three. Looking ahead to his senior year, his continued development could catapult him into the spotlight as one of the top prospects in the upcoming recruiting cycle.
David Dorsey III David Dorsey III 6'6" | PF Frederick | 2024 State MD
Shippensburg University commit David Dorsey is a game changer on the court. The 6’6 senior’s skill set is tied together by his sweet shooting stroke. Dorsey’s shooting touch is nothing short of elite, as he consistently knocks down shots from beyond the arc, mid-range and the free-throw line.
Dorsey brings to the defensive end what he puts out on offense. Playing with tenacity and a high-energy approach, he uses his athleticism and length to play passing lanes, contest shots, and secure rebounds.
One of his standout attributes is a lightning-quick first step as he flips between catch-and-shoot situations and aggressive drives to the basket. It allows him to create separation off the dribble and capitalize on strong closeouts or off balance defenders. His translatable shooting skill, combined with advanced ball handling, footwork in the paint and ability to play above the rim, make him truly versatile on offense.
Andrew Otuyelu
One player who got better as the season went on, Andrew Otuyelu of Kenwood who turned up his game when his team needed him most. The best shooter on Kenwood’s roster, Otuyelu elevated his game to new heights after the winter break, transforming into a complete scorer.
Otuyelu poses a constant threat to defenders with his deceptively quick drives to the basket and innate finishing ability at the rim. His strong upper body allows him to power through contact and finish at unorthodox angles at the basket, and he plays with a composed demeanor, letting the game come to him.
On the boards, he has a “bulldog” mentality, getting tough rebounds over bigger players and sticking his nose in to contribute to the less glamorous part of the game. While he’s predominantly a scorer, Otuyelu has the potential to refine his playmaking abilities and solidify himself as one of the premier guards in the area. As he continues to expanding his skillset, Otuyelu will have more opportunities to play the lead guard role and show he’s a dynamic playmaker capable of thriving at the next level.
