Here are 5 stock-risers in the final 2024 player rankings:
Jeremiah Hayes, Fayette Ware: Hayes moved up 22 spots to No. 63. The combo guard finished the 2023 season averaging 15.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 2.6 steals per game. Hayes provided the Wildcats with value on both ends of the floor this season. Offensively, he can make shots from 3-point range, the mid-range area, and at the rim. Defensively, Hayes is physical on the ball, doesn’t like to give up anything cheap. Fayette Ware won the TSSAA Class 3A Region 8 Tournament and made it to the quarterfinals round of the TSSAA Division 1 Class 3A State Tournament. Hayes was a huge part of that.
Marlon McShane, Ridgeway: McShane moved up 26 spots to No. 101. The 5-10 point guard got into a nice groove in the postseason, scoring in double figures each time the Roadrunners needed him to. Also, McShane did a solid job of limiting turnovers as the team’s primary ball handler. Ridgeway reached the Class 3A championship game, thanks to solid contribute from McShane.
Murray Norman, Munford: Norman moved up six spots to No. 40. The 6-3 guard was one of the best in Class 3A this season, averaging 22.7 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 2.4 assists. He was consistent from start to finish. Norman’s recruitment picked up in the process and will definitely find a home by the end of the spring.
Ace Mahaffey, Dyersburg: Mahaffey moved up 12 spots to No. 90. I was very impressed with Mahaffey’s offense in the Class 3A Region 8 Tournament. He shoots the ball well, runs hard off screens, and refers to make the extra pass instead of forcing a shot. Mahaffey is offensively gifted, so he shouldn’t have a problem finding a college home. Programs can always use shooters.
Ron Brisbon Jr., Haywood: The 6-6 small forward debuts at No. 95. He helped the Tomcats win 6 of their final 7 games and made Haywood highly competitive in league play. Brisbon finished well around the rim, rebounded the basketball well, and altered shots at the rim.
