Continue ReadingThe next in a long line of talented Mustangs playmakers in the backcourt, Perrin dished out 7 assists against just 1 turnover in DCG’s win over Pella Christian on Monday night. He’s a talented ball-handler and playmaker who sees the floor extremely well, limits mistakes, and loves to get his teammates involved. He’s a solid on-ball and team defender who positions himself well and has quick hands.

A small, but quick and tough lead guard, Wilmes stuffs the stat sheet most nights for the Huskies, and did the same in their win over Carroll, finishing with 5 points (2-2 FG, 1-2 FT), 2 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals. He’s not a big-time scorer, but he also doesn’t force anything, playing to his strengths and attacking the rim when the opportunities present themselves, but getting his teammates involved at a high clip and playing solid defense at the top of their zone. He’s a talented running back on the Winterset football team, and many of the same attributes – vision, toughness, change of direction – make him a valuable lead guard on the hardwood as well.
A 6-1 guard who can play with or without the ball in his hands, Uhlenhopp finished with 17 points on 8-18 shooting, 3 rebounds, and 5 assists in the Green Devils’ loss to Nashua-Plainfield. He handles the ball well and can create off the dribble for himself and his teammates.

Maddox Cockrum
Maddox Cockrum
A tough, physical, but undersized, forward, Cockrum had 13 points on 5-7 shooting (3-5 FT), 8 rebounds, and a block against Nashua-Plainfield. He showed good hands, soft touch, and solid footwork around the rim. He’s really good on the glass, especially on the offensive end, using his physicality and soft hands to control the glass.
