Another week of Region Play is in the books. This one came with rivalries, upsets, and must-wins games all over the State of South Carolina. I was in Seneca for the Bobcats Top-10 Matchup with Daniel, and in Anderson as TL Hanna faced off with Hillcrest. Take a look at my recap from these two very fun games:

Seneca Hold Off Daniel In Rivalry Win

One of the most intriguing matchups in the state on Tuesday Evening was in my neck of the woods, as the Seneca Bobcats hosted the Daniel Lions in their second and final matchup of the Regular Season. Daniel defended home court back on January 12th, boosted by 21 Points from Hayden Anderson and 16 Points from [player_tooltip player_id='1524086' first='Tristyn' last='Carrington']. The latter had another tremendous performance in Tuesday's game. He opened with 9 Points in the first quarter and picked up the toughest assignment on the defensive end; Appalachian State Commit [player_tooltip player_id='1268064' first='Cameron' last='O'Kelley']. Each is a product of the Grassroots Programs [program_tooltip program_id='2163938' first='Next' last='Level Elite'], so they know each other's strengths and weaknesses well. Neither team ever took full control of the game but O'Kelley's 8 4th Quarter-Points including 2 free throws with 28.2 seconds left found the Bobcats up 3. But, on the next possession, [player_tooltip player_id='1766104' first='Simms' last='Disbrow'] was fouled shooting a 3 - following an offensive rebound from Anderson - with 0.8 seconds left and hit all of his shots from the line to send the game to overtime. 8th Grader [player_tooltip player_id='2339844' first='Jeremiah' last='Hunter'] stepped up with some big plays on both ends of the floor and O'Kelley hit more crucial free throws to help seal the win for Seneca in extra time, as the Bobcats kept their Region Championship hopes alive.

Hillcrest Keep Playoff Hopes Alive With Road Win Over TL Hanna

Coming into Friday Night's matchup, the Hillcrest Rams were the only team in Class AAAAA Region 1 without a victory. However, TL Hanna was also in a bit of a rough patch losing their last 2 region games. The Rams had a cold start to the must-win game, opening with a 5-minute-scoring drought. [player_tooltip player_id='1578642' first='Lucas' last='Wiersma'] had a bright start to the game for the Yellow Jackets, putting up 4 points and hauling in 5 rebounds in the first quarter. But Trevolis Walker hit a 3 at the buzzer to help Hillcrest take some momentum into the second period. Walker, alongside Senior Cameron Pulley, stepped up big time for the Rams in the opening period. [player_tooltip player_id='1624061' first='Caden' last='Coleman'], who did play in the first half, had 9 third-quarter points as Hillcrest started to take control of the game. His ability to score over and draw fouls on several different Yellow Jacket defenders was a difference-maker. It sent both Wiersma and [player_tooltip player_id='1578622' first='Javeyn' last='Martin'] into foul trouble in the early fourth quarter. But, TL Hanna wouldn't go down easily. [player_tooltip player_id='1892446' first='Tanner' last='Epps'] hit big shot after big shot to keep the Yellow Jackets around including his 5th second-half 3 with 33 seconds left to cut the lead to one. Tray Clinkscales hit both of his free throws on the other end for Hillcrest, and the Rams held on with some tight defense to seal the extremely important road Region Win.
