Player of the Year 2A Mid-State Conference: [player_tooltip player_id='1716474' first='Dionte' last='Neal'], Reidsville

Reidsville High sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1716474' first='Dionte' last='Neal'] is this year's 2A Mid-State Conference Player of the Year. Neal is a familiar face on the PH platform as he continues to terrorize opposing backcourts with his quickness and high IQ at the floor general position. He won 50 percent of the vote while teammate [player_tooltip player_id='1628346' first='Kendre' last='Harrison'] finished in second place with 37 percent of the vote. He averaged a double-double this season with 20.0 PPG, 10.8 APG along with 4.3 SPG and 3.4 RPG in just his second year of varsity basketball. Reidsville High is 21-0 and 12-0 in the 2A Mid-State Conference. Granted, he also has top-rated prospect [player_tooltip player_id='1628346' first='Kendre' last='Harrison'] to work with in his frontcourt, but it's worth noting, Neal's ability to affect the game when watching them play doesn't go unnoticed.

Neal showed he's a true point guard once again in his sophomore season while improving upon his 3-point shooting ability. He shot 37 percent from deep this season while posting double-doubles in 17 of their 21 regular season games, including 27 points and 11 assists in a victory against Cannon School in the John Wall Holiday Invitational back in December. He set a new career-high in scoring with 36 points on 13-of-18 shooting from the field, 4-of-7 from behind the arc in a victory over Rockingham County High back on Jan. 8. That game came three days after he put up a then-career high 35 points against conference rival Walkertown.

Neal ranks first in the state of North Carolina on MaxPreps in assists (227) and his steals (90) ranks first in the Mid-State Conference. He's quite the two-way presence on the hardwood who plays with a ton of pace while still maintaining his quickness. The Rams will look to remain unbeaten this year once again with Neal leading the way while making another run in the NCHSAA State Playoffs.

Neal beat out [player_tooltip player_id='1628346' first='Kendre' last='Harrison'] (Reidsville), [player_tooltip player_id='1382675' first='Jaylen' last='Wilkerson'] (Walkertown) and [player_tooltip player_id='1131339' first='Makel' last='Smith'] (Morehead) to take home this year's award.
