Devin’s State Predictions – 2A Class

Here are my state predictions for the 2A class.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>There was no upsets in the opening round / regional play of this bracket. The top 4 teams advanced straight to the quarterfinals.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>#6 Mark Morris vs #11 Bremerton</em> - PREDICTION: Mark Morris - [player_tooltip player_id='1450497' first='Braydon' last='Olson'] is too talented on the court for the Monarchs to lose this one, but Bremerton will put up a good fight. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>#7 Rogers vs #10 Sammamish </em>- PREDICTION: Sammamish - This will be a great game of teams that will matchup well with each other. Keith Kariucki is a wing who stretches the floor nice and plays fantastic defense. He averages 4 steals a game and always guards the opposing teams best player. He's the reason Sammamish pulls this win off.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>#5 Anacortes vs #12 Columbia River</em> - PREDICTION: Anacortes - [player_tooltip player_id='1485542' first='Davis' last='Fogle'] is a top 3 player in the 2025 class and has been able to lead Anacortes here this season and I think they'll sneak out at least one win at state.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>#8 Prosser vs #9 Pullman - PREDICTION: Pullman - This game is the best matchup for round 1, in my eyes. Prosser has the McClure brothers who are a dynamic duo with Max Flores contributing. Pullman's [player_tooltip player_id='1612189' first='Champ' last='Powaukee'] has been a steady leader for the team and [player_tooltip player_id='1984479' first='Daniel' last='Kwon'] has been playing his best basketball and elevates Pullman over Prosser.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>QUARTERFINALS</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>#4 Renton vs #6 Mark Morris </em>- PREDICTION: Mark Morris - Going out on a limb on this one and saying that Mark Morris pulls off the upset. Olson is playing on another level this season and has been putting the team on his back, he's not done yet.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>#1 Lynden vs #10 Sammamish </em>- PREDICTION: Lynden - The back to back state champs are going to be hard to pick against. They'll win this game easily, in my eyes. Canales is a Lynden Legend and is on the hunt for his 3rd ring in a row.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>#3 North Kitsap vs #5 Anacortes </em>- PREDICTION: North Kitsap - The matchup between [player_tooltip player_id='1450488' first='Cade' last='Orness'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1485542' first='Davis' last='Fogle'] will be a fantastic one. They might just off set each other, meaning other players on the team need to step up. North Kitsap has that in [player_tooltip player_id='1450502' first='Harry' last='Davies'], [player_tooltip player_id='2156619' first='Mason' last='Chmielewski'] &amp; [player_tooltip player_id='1485661' first='Jordan' last='Williams'].</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>#2 Grandview vs #9 Pullman </em>- PREDICTION: Grandview - No one has really competed with Grandview, they are super competitive and tough to matchup against. Lino Armendariz &amp; [player_tooltip player_id='1450579' first='Levi' last='Dorsett'] are some key players for Grandview. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>SEMI FINALS</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>#1 Lynden vs #6 Mark Morris </em>- PREDICTION: Lynden - Canales vs Olson matchup will be an extremely fun one to watch once again. Lynden won the first matchup by 20 points and I do expect Lynden to win the 2nd matchup but, it'll be a closer game. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>#2 Grandview vs #3 North Kitsap</em> - PREDICTION: North Kitsap - [player_tooltip player_id='1450488' first='Cade' last='Orness'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1450502' first='Harry' last='Davies'] are arguably the best duo in the entire state. Grandview is tall, but North Kitsap has the role players to put them just above Grandview, in my eyes. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>2A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>#1 Lynden vs #3 North Kitsap - PREDICTION: Lynden - These two teams always seem to matchup deep into the playoffs for whatever sport it is. Orness vs Canales is going to be extremely entertaining, especially since both are top 10 players in the entire 2024 class. [player_tooltip player_id='1450490' first='Anthony' last='Canales'] is on a mission for his 3rd straight ring and possibly 3rd straight tournament MVP. He's a big time player who is going to leave an amazing legacy up in Whatcom County </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
