One. Grayson a Different Level. There was just nobody else on the floor with the experience, agility, explosiveness up the floor and skill level of Grayson Okoronkwo Grayson Okoronkwo 6'2" | SG Blake | 2024 State MN . Grayson was grabbing boards and flying the other way to score beating the Crusader transition. Grayson was getting to steals and flying the other way for transition scores. He knocked out three triples and his three point stroke looked good. His body control going to either side of the rim might have been my biggest takeaway in terms of what he was able to do in a unique way. Grayson scored 31 points on 13 of 21 shooting and likely could have hit a career high but with Blake up 50 points with nine minutes to go, playing him any further seemed almost unfair (there are a lot of coaches in this state that could learn from that). He finished with the 31 plus ten boards, five steals and four assists.
Two. Kaba is a Prospect. There is a lot to like about 6’8 Omar Kaba Omar Kaba 6'8" | C Blake | 2025 State MN as a prospect and we really look forward to following him through the spring and summer locally and you can bet that schools at each level from the five state area will be peaking in on him as well. His body control, hands and footwork have really taken a step forward. His shoulder turns into the touch as well as one dribble moves into the touched finish stood out to me as something that has really taken a step forward. He’s also quicker off his feet to board, contest, and dunk than he has been in the past. Had 21 points with eight boards shooting 8 of 11 from the field and five of six from the foul line. He’s a guy that I am really looking forward to tracking weekend by weekend this 17u season.
Three. Blake Twin Towers. A size advantage? Up front? At Blake? The Blake School? YES. Between Kaba and 6-foot-7 Ian Schnabel Ian Schnabel 6'7" | C Blake | 2025 State MN the Blake Bears have some great size. Ian actively scored 20 in the paint giving him a season high 20 points including a physical dunk to finish off the game. Ian scored 20 points on 9 of 10 shooting last night and the potential looks there to be a solid D3 player
Four. Blake Youth. Blake has two seniors, Grayson and his 24 points a game, and Matthew Tarr who is their ninth man. Between them are seven players of various types that should keep Blake moving forward. Kaba and Schnabel are juniors up front and Carson McMichael Carson McMichael 6'1" | PG Blake | 2026 State MN will move into that main scoring role next season (averaging 14 a game as a sophomore).Noah Wagoner is scoring 11 a game as a junior and sophomores Aiden Wilson and Caden Johnson are coming along nicely. This will be a strong 2026 backcourt for a while.
Five. Mayer Lutheran. Nathan Lindesmith Nathan Lindesmith 5'11" | SG Mayer Lutheran | 2025 MN has had an excellent season at Mayer scoring 20 a game since moving here from Ohio. Last night was tough but for the year he’s been a nice player for the Crusaders. Third leading scorer Joshua Clark scored ten on five of seven shooting last night as he was their best option. Last night was tough but Mayer Lutheran has taken a nice step forward this season.
