Continue ReadingAfter halftime, Parker Overstreet Parker Overstreet 5’10” | PG Wylie East | 2025 TX went crazy in the third quarter, bringing electrifying energy as he made play after play. Turning his defense into offense, he secured steals and finished at the basket. His ability to get downhill and score through contact not only led to free throws but also rallied his team back from a double-digit deficit. He was so hot that he eventually hit a ridiculous buzzer-beating three-pointer, giving the Raiders their biggest lead of the game heading into the fourth quarter. Creating and scoring incredibly well in one-on-one situations, he sized up defenders with in-and-out dribbles, between-the-legs moves, and slight stop-and-start bounces, blowing by them to the rack with an explosive first step that caught defenders off guard. Proving to be the toughest player on the floor, Overstreet relentlessly drove inside despite being fouled or knocked down to the floor. His exceptional playmaking abilities in the 4th quarter put the finishing touch on the game, as he attracted attention before dropping off multiple bounce passes to his teammates while driving to the rack, even making the assist that tied the game with less than 10 seconds on the clock, pushing the game into overtime. He put on a show, played with a will to win, and helped deliver what might be the biggest upset of the playoffs thus far.
Highlights
Eian Lowe Eian Lowe 5’7″ | PG Fort Bend Marshall | 2025 State TX was a true lockdown defender, solidifying his reputation as one of the best defensive point guards in the state. Lowe applied relentless pressure on the opposing point guard, forcing them to exert energy to get the ball up the court, staying attached as they crossed halfcourt, never allowing comfortable offensive setups. Lowe’s elite defensive awareness, lateral quickness, and fast-moving feet allowed him to outmaneuver his opponents on and off the ball. His active hands and quick reflexes translated into the ability to read passing lanes, deflect or intercept passes, and strip the ball from unsuspecting ball handlers. On the offensive end, Lowe showcased a pure mid-range shot with a quick, effective, and deceptive pump fake, jab step, and rip-through moves, sometimes combining them altogether.
Jak Kinder Jak Kinder 5’9″ | CG Martin’s Mill | 2025 State TX showcased a great-looking jumper with a strong and effective follow-through. This kid could not be left open for a second, or else he will make the defense pay. He displayed one of the quickest catch-and-shoot triggers in the playoffs, hopping and catching the ball off two feet while remaining squared with the basket. Kinder got off his mid-range jumper using his elevation and a slight fade, allowing him to avoid and shoot over contesting defenders.
A.J. McPeters A.J. McPeters 6’4″ | SF Lewisville | 2025 TX established himself as a potent three-point shooter, showcasing a combination of range, consistency, and a smooth release. Proficient in both catch-and-shoot situations and creating his own shot off the dribble, showing his versatility beyond the arc.
Kayden Edwards Kayden Edwards 6’3″ | CG Duncanville | 2025 State #63 Nation TX consistently provided a scoring threat, showcasing a strong three-point prowess with a lightning-fast catch-and-shoot motion. In the 4th quarter, he entered a different mode, taking over the game and going on a scoring run by himself. Displaying a sense of urgency, he upped the tempo, attacked the hoop with aggression, created shooting fouls, intercepted passes, and took it all the way down the other end for easy points. His speed and acceleration made him uncatchable in the open floor.
