These players who could easily in many cases transfer to bigger schools with more notable programs, but they have chosen to stay at home and rep their home school. These kids listed are simply ranked and from a small school, A and AA in particular or small private/parochial schools.

Kimble is the floor leader for the Pendleton squad that has become a regular at the state tournament and likely this year will be no different. Kimble, a two sport athlete competes as hard on the court as he does the football field and is a leader in both. Josiah is currently ranked 56 and will run with Big Shots WV Reign Elite this AAU Season.
Golihue is a big time guard at one of WV’s best basketball programs yet being in one of the smaller divisions currently (Chapmanville moves to AAA next year). Gollihue transferred from single A power Tug Valley to Chapmanville in the fall and has been in their starting lineup and producing as expected. Most recently Gollihue scored the winning buckets for Chapmanville in the Big Shots Virginia Invitational and being named a 2nd Team All Star for the event.
Bryant is an emerging force for the talented Williamstown squad. Known as a shooter, Bryant has added some wrinkles in his game and puts it off the bounce with ease scoring pull ups that are nearly impossible to defend. Bryant currently ranked 23 in the top 65 and with the attention his teammates are getting from D2/D3 coaches, Bryant will certainly be next in line for those scouts.
Bonner has been nothing short of amazing this year. He’s had his huge scoring outings but most importantly led Tucker back to single A prominence. He’s must see TV if you can find where the Mountain Lions play sometime between now and March 16. Currently ranked 20th, Bonner will be one of the centerpieces of the single A state tournament given Tucker advances. Bonner will run with Big Shots WV Reign Elite for AAU season.
Watts to most of WV is one of the best kept secrets. For those that have seen him play in person, the stories and the hype are real. He really dunks like that, he really shoots like that, he’s really that fast. He definitely seems to have that next level speed and explosion to play high level D2 or lower level D1, but will he get the opportunity playing at a small rural school in WV? Watts does already have an offer from Kentucky Christian.
Isaly gives such and old school feel to his Williamstown squad. A fast athletic floor general that takes the task of scoring when presented. He’s somewhere between Gary Payton and John Stockton if we’re giving old school NBA references. But regardless, his play dating back to last March has opened recruiting eyes and given confirmation that you can still be a hustling two-way guard that plays in your face on ball defense as well as play downhill on offense and someone will notice. In Cruz’s case it’ll be more than one.
Schramm has absolutely dazzled in this 2023-2024 season. Often times playing partial minutes due to wide margins on the scoreboard, but nonetheless Parker has put up sizzling numbers and super efficient shooting performances. I think anyone that has tracked Schramm the last couple years can see he’s added some major tools to his bag and is more than comfortable using them this season. He’s the true definition of “shooting guard” as he scores and shoots (as well as defends) at a high level, as matter of fact, college level. Schramm already received offers to play from D2 Alma (Michigan) and D3 Waynesburg.
I think Luzader is one of the better “rise to dominance” stories of the season. Being a third year starter I’ve seen Luzader play in person every season, including at the fall league session at Anderson Court in Morgantown. Not only has he grown to a massive broad shouldered 6’7″ but his game has grown into a serious interior threat status with Preston being a high level rebounder and finisher around the rim. A good enough finisher to hit 1000 points as a junior. Luzader is the top ranked 2025 center in WV currently and his name will be crossing the proverbial desk of many college coaches in the coming months.

Patton is an absolute workhorse for his Mercer Christian squad. MJ has had a huge January scoring and against notable competition, but not to outshine his 40 point performance on 2/2. This recent 1000 point scorer is a ball of hustle and heart with scoring ability to match, currently ranked #60, Patton will run with WV Aftershock this AAU season.
Adams is another bit talent in small package. Adams has had several great scoring games from last year and this year as well. Trinity will be knocking on the door to get to the civic center in March and if they do, Adams will be a big reason. Ranked 57th, Adams has had a huge January scoring 25 in a pair of games and being leading scorer in several.
Browder is possibly the most obscured name on this list. But it doesn’t go without merit. Playing for one of WV’s premier private schools, Browder is a slick shooting forward that has burned the nets on some occasions this season. Browder has a chance to get his name out there this spring and summer via the AAU circuits and display what alot of coaches are looking for.
Woodson is an up and coming player for the Greater Beckley squad. He’s had some great success scoring but Woodson’s best attributes are his court vision and passing. GBC seems to be back in the hunt again for a berth to Charleston and that would mean alot of people seeing Averyk for the first time which would be fun. Recently getting an offer to play at Experience Academy in TN, Woodson is ranked 47 with us and has had huge production in the month of January.
Anthony is who we thought he is and kept it rolling right on into this season. Literally surrounded by current and future stars, Anthony just stays strong and steady and puts up what Central needs to win. Anthony is the sharp shooter that a team like Central needs to not only make it to March postseason play, but advance to the weekend. Anthony will roll with Caveman Basketball outta Pittsburgh for the upcoming AAU season.
Pendleton is one of the “wait and see” wonders in WV right now being that he’s reclassed, transferred and started putting up giant numbers for TVCS, so in terms of recruiting Pendleton seems to be right on the verge of becoming one of the state’s most sought after recruits of the 2025 class. He has continually put up big numbers night in and night out for TVCS vs very strong competition. Pendleton is ranked 35 and will run with Midwest Basketball Club during AAU season.
If you don’t know Max Wilcox Max Wilcox 6'3" | SG Charleston Catholic | 2025 State WV by now, you’re not paying attention. Wilcox who’s been a mainstay with the Charleston Catholic squad since his freshman year, simply brings his lunch pail to the gym every day and works to win and get better. First being known for his long range shooting, Wilcox has transformed himself into one of WV’s top small school two-way guards. Eyeing his academic and athletic performance, Max already has a handful of D3 coaches following and tracking his development. Max will run with Big Shots WV Reign Elite this AAU season.
We’ve wrote so many times about Maki we probably sound like a broken record. What’s to be said that hasn’t already. Well for one, we are projecting Cary as a D2 level point guard at the next level, reason being, TVCS’s schedule this year has given Cary alot of quality games vs high level competition on film. Cary is ranked at 10 and still has potential to rise.
