Today we want to dig deeper into the Class of 2025 rankings and review five players who used November’s fall ball action as well as the first month and a half of the 2023-24 high school season to increase their recruiting stock significantly.
Below is a review of five “stock risers” from southeastern Pennsylvania’s Class of 2025 who you need to keep an eye on for the remainder of the 2023-24 season.
27 to 22… Kevair Kennedy Kevair Kennedy 6'1" | PG Father Judge | 2025 State PA – 6’1″ / Father Judge / Philly Pride UAA / Combo Guard: This quick, instinctive, and versatile guard is tearing up the PCL with his dribble drive skills. Kennedy excels at putting the ball on the deck to create opportunities for himself and teammates. Once he gets into the paint, Kennedy can unleash a floater, slice all the way at the rim, or kick out to open shooters. His developing 3-point shot must be respected as well. This season Kennedy is posting 16 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists per game. He is shooting 48% from field and 35% from deep.
99 to 70… Jalen Chiles Jalen Chiles 6'1" | PG Friends Select | 2025 State PA – 5’11” / Friends Select / BW Elite / Point Guard: Chiles first grabbed our attention this summer with his topflight guard play, but this winter has served as his breakout period. He is an electric and multi-skilled guard who can do it all on the basketball court. Chiles can score at all three levels, distribute, push the fast break, and run half-court sets. As a bonus, Chiles is a plus defender. His stat line so far this season is extremely impressive — 17.5 ppg.; 4.3 apg.; and 5 rpg. Chiles is also shooting 42% from behind the arc.
NR to 170… Neiman Smith Neiman Smith 6'4" | CG Church Farm School | 2025 State PA – 6’4″ / Church Farm School / Combo Guard: Smith is an athletic and fast perimeter prospect with elite transition scoring skills. In the half court, he can slash to the cup for a catch and lay-in and drain threes. On the defensive end, Smith’s ability to knife through passing lanes for a steal is extremely noteworthy. Smith is averaging 17 points and 6 boards per contest. This season Smith has posted several headline grabbing games — 23 points vs. MaST Charter; 22 points and 9 boards vs. Christian Academy; and a double-double of 17 points (2 threes) and 11 rebounds La Academia.
240 to 221… Idris Rines Idris Rines 6'5" | SF Upper Dublin | 2025 State PA – 6’4” / Upper Dublin / Shawn Warren Elite / Power Forward: Rines is an intriguing prospect as he plays as a point-forward style of ball. At 6’4” and an estimated 200 pounds, he can score on blocks and get points off the offensive glass. But Rines also loves to drag his defender out to the high post or even beyond the arc and then go to work. He possesses the passing skills of a point guard, so he will find open cutters for easy buckets. Rines can also operate in pick and pop action. With his size and accurate jumper, Rines can shoot over defenders out to 20 feet. In the last month, Rines has knocked down 4 triples against Holy Ghost Prep (14 pts. overall) and Upper Moreland (17 pts. total).
273 to 242… Reece Craft Reece Craft 6'6" | SF Devon Prep | 2025 State PA – 6’5″ / Devon Prep / PA Hoops Academy / Small Forward: To say it has been a solid junior campaign for Craft is an understatement. This wiry and active hybrid-forward earned a spot in DP’s starting lineup and quickly had an impact. Craft is a lefty who can score via dives to the rim, pick-n-roll action, and the offensive glass. He owns a nice mid-range game and a developing 3-point stroke. Craft is effective at scoring out of the dunker spot as well. This season he is averaging 13 points and 7 rebounds per game.
