On paper this game projected to be a high scoring, entertaining affair. But when the two teams hit the court, what took place was a defensive minded, grinding contest. Spring Ford led at halftime — 27-13. Perk Valley standout Julian Sadler Julian Sadler 6'1" | CG Perkiomen Valley | 2024 State PA was tremendous in the 2nd half as he rallied PV to take a one-point lead in the late 4Q. But in the end, it wasn’t enough. Trailing by one point in the final seconds, Sadler missed a three and Kyle Shawaluk Kyle Shawaluk 6'4" | SG Perkiomen Valley | 2024 State PA ‘s put back attempt failed too. Spring Ford held on for a 53-52 win.
Below is a review of the college prospects involved in last night’s Perkiomen Valley (11-3) at Spring Ford (11-3) contest.
Perkiomen Valley
Jakob Harken Jakob Harken 6'1" | CG Perkiomen Valley | 2025 State PA – 6’1” / PSB Philly / Shooting Guard: Harken (2 pts.) is sneaky athletic and owns a high basketball IQ. He did not have much of a chance to display his scoring abilities last night, but we know his jump shot is highly accurate and he can play in the open court.
Julian Sadler Julian Sadler 6'1" | CG Perkiomen Valley | 2024 State PA – 6’2″ / 2024 / East Coast Power / Combo Guard: This lefty scoring guard has been torching opponents this season (23 ppg.; multiple 30-spots) and he did not let up last night. In the 2nd half, Sadler simply took over this game. Sadler (23points; 3 threes) scored all 3-levels and controlled the tempo for PV. He also showed he can be a tenacious on-ball defender.
Kyle Shawaluk Kyle Shawaluk 6'4" | SG Perkiomen Valley | 2024 State PA – 6’4″ / 2024 / PSB Philly / Wing: Shawaluk (2 pts.) has already posted a 30-point game this season. So, we know this long and athletic hybrid forward can fill it up. Last night Spring Ford appeared determined to shut him off and it worked. Still, Shawaluk impacted the game in other areas as he was a plus defender, consistently made the extra pass and cleaned the glass too.
Spring Ford
EJ Campbell EJ Campbell 6'0" | CG Spring Ford | 2024 State PA – 6’1” / 2026 / K-Low Elite / Combo Guard: Campbell is a versatile and smooth operator who can run at either guard spot, but this season has been the primary ballhandler for SF. He uses his elusive handles and blow by speed to get into the paint to score or distribute. Thursday night he excelled in the open court and laced a couple of threes on his way to 14 points.
Tommy Kelly Tommy Kelly 6'4" | SF Spring Ford | 2025 State PA – 6’5” / 2025 / Philly Pride UAA / Small Forward: Kelly (10 points) is the ultimate “glue guy”. He is athletic and long with solid foot speed, so he can fill a lane on the break and convert through contact. He can also produce points via dives to the rim, and the offensive glass. Kelly is an underrated passer too.
Jacob Nguyen Jacob Nguyen 6'3" | SG Spring Ford | 2025 State PA – 6’3” / 2025 / Philly Pride UAA / Shooting Guard: After a slow start offensively, Nguyen found his grove from behind the arc and posted 14 points. In addition to splashing threes, Nguyen displayed the ability to get into the paint off the dribble and execute floaters. Nguyen’s footwork is extraordinary, and he owns a deep bag of head / ball fakes. Nguyen holds a handful of DI offers.
Oben Mokonchu Oben Mokonchu 6'6" | C Spring Ford | 2026 State PA – 6’4″ / 2026 / East Coast Power / Small Forward: Mokonchu (14 points) is a sleeper prospect on the SF roster. He is a quick athlete with size and fantastic instincts. He can operate in pick-n-roll and / or slash to the rim for a catch and lay-in. Mokonchu can attack the rim off the bounce from the elbows or block extended areas too. In all these scenarios he can then score through contact. This sophomore is also a beast on the glass at both ends.
Matt Zollers Matt Zollers 6'4" | SF Spring Ford | 2025 PA – 6’4″ / 2025 / Small Forward: Zollers is a highly recruited DI football prospect (quarterback) who is solid basketball player too. On the hoops court his height and muscular frame give SF a much-needed physical presence. Zollers (6 pts.) possesses a nice flip hook shot and can kiss bunnies off the glass from multiple angles. His developing post-up game is a nice weapon too. Plus, Zollers has a point-forward element to his game.
