The court at the Fellowship House is not a full 94-feet long. Thus, a long-distance sniper like Nguyen is “in-range” the moment he steps over half-court. That fact combined with Nguyen’s quick release and textbook mechanics produced 6 made threes on Monday night for the former Spring Ford star. He also drained pull ups off the bounce. Plus, Nguyen scored a few buckets on the fast break. When the final horn sounded, Nguyen had totaled 27 points. Nguyen displayed solid athleticism too. This 1st Team All-PAC selection recently committed to Jefferson University (D2).

This week Nguyen announced that next year he will take his talents to Division II powerhouse Jefferson University. Nguyen has been torching the nets of late. He posted 26 points (3 threes) in Spring Ford’s 1st Round state tourney win as well as 29 points (5 threes) and 27 points (4 triples) in the District 1-6A tournament. Thus, when Nguyen opened this game with 8 points (1 three) in the first quarter it looked like he was headed for another big night. But then Judge changed their defensive strategy for Nguyen. From the second quarter on, Nguyen (1,400+ career points) was faced guarded for 94-feet and saw double teams on every touch. His high IQ and unselfish nature enabled him to handle that defensive strategy with poise and move the ball to an open teammate. However, Judge’s defensive changes limited Nguyen to just 2 points over the final three quarters. Nguyen holds several DI mid-major offers and more coaches should be texting this guard prospect.

After posting games of 29 points (5 threes) as well as 27 points (4 triples) in the District 1-6A tournament, Nguyen continued his high scoring ways in the 1st Round of the 6A state tourney as he dropped 26-points in this win. Fourteen of those points came in the 4th quarter as Nguyen served as the closer for Spring Ford. Nguyen is regarded as one of the top long-range shooters in the region and on Saturday he backed up that rep with 3 made threes. Nguyen also created for himself and teammates off the dribble. His ability to put the ball on the floor and get to the rim is highly underrated. Nguyen (1,400+ points) holds several DI mid-major offers, but more coaches should be texting this guard prospect.

Nguyen has already received a handful of mid-major DI offers, but after his stellar performances in the District 1-6A tournament, his phone should be flooded with texts and calls from college coaches. Nguyen poured in 27 points (4 threes) in District 1-6A win over Wissahickon; He also exploded for 29 points (5 triples) in SF’s quarterfinal loss to Coatesville. During District play, Nguyen became SF’s all-time leading scorer with 1,400+ career points (and counting). Nguyen’s reputation as one of the most accurate long-range snipers in the region proceeds him. But across the District 1-6A Nguyen continued to prove that he can put the ball on the floor and get to his mid-range spots or all the way to the rack. Nguyen’s ability to play off two feet is unique. Plus, he displayed sneaky end-to-end speed in SF’s transition game. Nguyen’s length and finishing skills enable him to score through contact.

Nguyen (1,000-point+ scorer) holds several mid-major DI offers, but more college coaches should be contacting him. Nguyen is one of the top long-distance snipers in the area a front runner to take home the 2024-25 PAC Player of the Year award. Nguyen’s deep range, quick release and non-stop off ball movement make him difficult to defend along the arc. When a defender is out of control on a close out, Nguyen will attack the rim off the dribble for lay-ins. He can also throw on the breaks in the mid-range and pop a jumper off the bounce. Nguyen’s length and positioning skills make him an underrated rebounder at both ends of the floor.

Nguyen is a prolific scorer who lets the game come to him. He has the ability to set others up with his passing. Nguyen is a natural playmaker and isn’t afraid to hit timely shots. He does a really good job moving without the ball in the flow off the game. He is blossoming into a viable secondary ball-handler. He has always left his mark as a perimeter threat and can make opponents pay who do not guard him. Nguyen would be a great late addition to whichever college programs wants a guard with versatility.

Nguyen holds a handful of DI offers, but his impressive performances on Saturday reinforced for us that more college coaches should be texting him. Across Spring Ford’s two games at the DELCO Hoops Shootout, Nguyen once again proved to be one of the top three-point shooters in the region. But Nguyen did more than just make it rain from deep. This crafty ball handler also got to his mid-range spots for easy looks and all the way to the cup for lay-ins. Nguyen also displayed well-timed off ball movements. When a defender attempted to chase him off the arc, he simply cut back door for lay-ins. Nguyen also ran the floor for fast break buckets.
