The collison course between #1 seed Cathedral and #2 seed Crispus Attucks culminated in a second straight championship game battle between the two schools. Fans of both schools, including a large number of pure Indiana High School Basketball fans, packed Arsenal Tech High School for the Monday night championship game and the product on the floor did not disappoint.
Early on, it appeared that Crispus Attucks had too many weapons. Their offensive balance, couple with some disruptive on-ball defense, helped them build a 20-13 advantage after the first quarter. The offense continued to cook in the second quarter as the Tigers held onto a 41-31 advantage at the halftime break. However, the tides quickly turned when the two teams emerged from the locker room.
Cathedral began the third period on a 15-3 run and tied the game at 44-44 a piece at the four minute mark on a layup by Aidan Hughes Aidan Hughes 6'3" | SF Cathedral | 2025 State IN . Then, Brady Koehler Brady Koehler 6'9" | SF Cathedral | 2025 State #199 Nation IN gave the Irish a lead on the following possession. The teams would trade leads before ultimately heading into the fourth quarter tied at 50-50.
6’8″ junior forward Dezmon Briscoe Dezmon Briscoe 6'9" | PF Crispus Attucks | 2025 State #107 Nation IN took the game over when it mattered most. He single-handily scored the first nine points of the fourth quarter for Attucks and the Tigers never looked back from that point on. Cathedral would wind up cutting it to three points in the final seconds after a Koehler three-point play, and offensive rebounded a missed free throw for a final possession to tie the game. However, Lebron Gough Lebron Gough 6'1" | PG Cathedral | 2025 State IN missed a three-point attempt out of a timeout and Crispus Attucks escaped with a 71-68 victory and became back-to-back Indianapolis City Tournament champions.
Briscoe led the Tigers with 16 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 blocked shots. Meanwhile, Mason Lewis Mason Lewis 5'9" | PG Crispus Attucks | 2024 State IN and Chris Hurt Chris Hurt 5'11" | PG Crispus Attucks | 2025 State IN each added 13 points for Attucks.
