Powell Panthers Prove Dominance at Jefferson County

Jefferson County did claw until the end, playing annoying defense on the cutting Panthers. But one play opened up irreparably. Down 38-33, a flailing Jacob Shrader (Jeff Co.) fouled PHS Neyland Dugger Neyland Dugger 6'3" | SG Powell | 2025 State TN on the release. Dugger's three-pointer fell and he walked to the free throw line for one attempt. His miss still kept the game at 41-33 in Powell's favor.

But this story starts at the beginning not the end.

1st Q

Right up top Kaleb Walker Kaleb Walker 6'3" | PG Powell | 2024 State TN (Powell) crossed his man, dashed to the rim, and dropped a layup with a whistle audibly interrupting. And-1? No. A charge called on Kaleb wiped off the make. Powell did not make their first point until nearly four minutes elapsed. Senior Caleb Heard (Powell) hit a three-pointer off of a turnover.

End 1st: Powell 9-8.

2nd Q

Heard hit another three-pointer early in the second quarter.

Neyland Dugger Neyland Dugger 6'3" | SG Powell | 2025 State TN camped with PrepHoopsTN Combine in October. He looks a little bit bigger and more muscular since then. The junior still moves well away from the basketball. Dugger's corner three-pointer followed by a Caleb Heard layup moved the needle and the score to 22-17 Powell late in the second quarter.

4th Q

Powell handled the last few minutes a like a team with just a single loss. The Panthers played patiently with the lead and forced no shots. They made their ensuing free throws and did not foul on their own end. Walker did the majority of the ball-handling in the final minute.
