Peterson was unstoppable tonight and had answer for every time Desert Mountain tried to make a run to change the momentum of the game. He shot 11 of 17 from the floor which is good for 65 percent shooting from the floor. He was also 6 of 9 from behind the arc and most of those 3’s seems to come at such pivotal points in the game. Either it was to stop a run by Desert Mountain or to extend the lead and keep NDP at an arms length away from the Wolves. He also finished the night with 4 rebounds and 4 assists which just capped off an amazing night from this junior point guard.
His physical play on both side of the floor proved to be a key for the NDP in their win over Desert Mountain. He able to get down hill and attack the basket which put a ton of pressure on the Wolves defenders to play without fouling. He finished the game with 20 points and 9 rebounds but a lot of what he brings does not show up on the stat sheet. He has a great feel for where the ball is going to be and is often times right in the middle of every play. Not only can he attack the basket but he can also knock down the outside jumper as he went 4 for 4 from behind the arc. His overall toughness and grit rubs off on his teammates and he will be a major piece to the Saints post season run.
An absolute dynamic player who can do a little bit of everything on the basketball floor and that was on display against the Saints. His ability to bring the ball up the floor and initiate the offense for the Wolves is where it all starts. He is able to read the defense at an elite level and from there he makes smart choices on what to do with the basketball. His ability to attack the basket always puts the defense on their heels. He knows that and uses that to his advantage to hit up pull up jumpers from the mid range and beyond the arc. He finished with 26 points against the Saints defense. When they talk about a three level scorer, he is fits that description perfectly.
A freak athlete who is not afraid to draw contact and finish at the rim. Against the Saints, he was able to get to the rim and convert through contact. He is also a willing off the ball threat on the offensive end as he knows how to relocate and find open areas in the defense. He is another player who has great insight and feel for where the ball is going off the rim. Against the Saints he finished with 20 points and did it in variety of ways. His ability to use his quickness and speed get past a defender creates a ton of issues for opponents defenses as they have to respect all facets of his game. He will play a vital role in the Wolves run in the post season as he as the ability to take over any game.
Talk about a player who stepped up when his name was called upon. With his team fighting foul trouble against the Desert Mountain Wolves, he was able to elevate his game to another level and was a major reason the Saints walked away with a win. Scoring 16 of his 19 points in the second half. A majority of those points came in third quarter when the Wolves were making a strong push to get back into the game. He also filled the stat sheet by adding 5 rebounds and 5 assists to end his night. Production like this will have his name soaring up the recruiting boards come junior and senior year. As a sophomore, he has proven to others and himself that he can play with the top level talent in the state.
