Zakarion, or “Zee”, showed his continuous improvement since we first saw him in the summer and even since the beginning of the season at the Impact Sports Invitational. Smith had a really good stretch of scoring in the 3rd Quarter of Laurens’s loss against Clover at the 2024 Prep Hoops SC Showcase. That stretch put him up over his per-game average of 7 points and into double-digits. Simpson is also a strong rebounder and rim protector for his age and has been a constant producer for the Raiders at the defensive end all season long.
Highlights
Wilbourne is an impressive Guard prospect for the Mavericks. He had another strong performance at the Prep Hoops SC Showcase against fellow 5A Opponent Clover. Nate does a great job of running the Mauldin offense, making reads, facilitating to teammates, and scoring when needed. He also has good size and is an active defender. He had 15 points for the Mavericks on Saturday.
Kam is not a flashy offensive threat, but he is a gritty and committed defender. Smith is constantly given tough defensive assignments and he will never back down from a challenge on that end. One key sequence from Saturday’s Prep Hoops SC Showcase that encapsulates the type of player that Kam is comes from the 3rd Quarter of Greenville’s closely contested matchup with Greer. Smith successfully drew 2 charges while playing with 4 personal fouls, putting his body and game on the line. The crowd and his teammates fed off those plays from Smith which had a big impact in the game.
Williams Jr. also didn’t have his best offensive game. However, when it mattered in the fourth quarter of a one-possession game, Mikey hit a big shot for the Yellow Jackets. He connected on a left-wing three with 2:30 remaining in the game to increase Greer’s lead to 4. Despite having some shooting struggles, Williams Jr. stayed aggressive and made some strong drives where he got fouled or found teammates on dump-off passes.
Zyree had impressive spurts scoring the ball for the Falcons at the Prep Hoops SC Showcase on Saturday. He responded well to coaching after getting pulled for not taking an open shot, he immediately scored 10 points after getting put back in the game. It’s not something that always stands out, but it was key to Brown’s and Pebblebrook’s success early in the game. Zyree also had some big buckets late to help keep the Falcons close. He is capable of scoring off the catch and the dribble, and finished with a game-high 19 points.
Anthony Moon Anthony Moon 6’6″ | PF Pebblebrook | 2027 State GA is one of the most intriguing Peach State Prospects that I have seen so far this season. He is an extremely long Freshman who already plays big minutes for the Pebblebrook Falcons. Moon is a lanky 6’6″ with a frame that will only continue to grow and fill out. He is a tremendous rim protector already and has a high floor as a pick-and-roll or lob threat. He had 6 points and 3 rebounds in Pebblebrook’s loss to Gray Collegiate Academy (SC) on Saturday.
