Below is our review of five “new” prospects from southeastern Pennsylvania who made a name for themselves during Week 8 of the 2023-24 high school basketball season.

Guy Horton – 6'1″ / 2024 / Neshaminy / [program_tooltip program_id='2078709' first='Team' last='Final'] Black / Shooting Guard: Horton is an outstanding perimeter shooter with a quick trigger and textbook mechanics. However, if a defender is out of control on his close out, Horton will put the ball on the floor and slice to the cup for a lay-in. Horton will convert through contact too. Last week he posted 24 points (2 threes) in win over Pennridge.

[player_tooltip player_id='1192646' first='Tahir' last='Howell'] – 6'3″ / 2024 / Archbishop Wood / Philly Revolution / Wing: Wood's lineup is filled with standout prospects who score the ball with ease. So, Howell is one of the squad's “glue guys” tasked with rebounding and playing tenacious defense. He does both of those things at an impressive level. But this past week Howell broke out for 13 points in a win over Archbishop Carroll. Howell grabbed 6 rebounds too. Howell is athletic perimeter prospect who can score at all 3-levels. On most other teams he would be a No. 2 option.

[player_tooltip player_id='2336679' first='Ahmeil' last='McLaurin'] – 6'4″ / 2026 / Friends Select / [program_tooltip program_id='2078678' first='East' last='Coast Power'] / Small Forward: McLaurin is an athletic, quick, and solidly built forward prospect. Those assets make him a beast on the glass who frequently posts double-digit rebounding games. Then in the last week, McLauirn has showcased his scoring abilities, going for 16 points (and 9 rebounds) against GFS and then 18 points in a win over George School. McLaurin thrives in transition, can work the offensive glass for points and score on quick post ups.

[player_tooltip player_id='2329946' first='Henry' last='Rasmussen'] – 6'7″ / 2025 / Shipley School / [program_tooltip program_id='2078678' first='East' last='Coast Power'] / Wing: Rasmussen's reputation as a superb post defender and shot blocker proceeds him. Now in his junior campaign, Rasmussen is proving that he can be an efficient scoring threat too. His feathery jumper is good from the baseline to the elbows to the arc. He is also excellent in pick-n-pop action. Rasmussen can score off dribble drives going left or right too. For his size, he runs the floor well which makes him a secondary beak option. Recently against GFS, Rasmussen recorded 20 points (2 threes) and pulled in 11 rebounds.

[player_tooltip player_id='2047680' first='Jaden' last='Shipley'] – 6'3” / 2026 / Executive Education ACS / [program_tooltip program_id='2078709' first='Team' last='Final'] Red / Combo Guard: Shipley first caught our attention during the June 2023 live period. Now he is torching opponents in this high school season. Shipley is a fast and elusive dribble drive wizard who can get to the rim in a flash. Once there, he can finish with creativity or authority. Shipley is a filthy open court player too. His jump shot must be respected as well. Last week he recorded 15 points and 5 boards in a win over Hazleton. Earlier this month he registered 20 points and 5 rebounds as EEACS defeated Edison.
