The Friday Metro Combo. You have two options before you head over to BSM to see the Red Knights and the Islanders: those options are PACT and North Lakes in a lunch time noon tip off and/or Math & Science versus St. Paul Washington. You will likely have to watch only a half of the second option so you can get a seat for the holiday private school classic, but you can do it!
OR. We said combo. And I believe that De vs BSM is a girls game/boys game combo so that can be your two games tonight option as well!
Weekend’s Best. The weekend’s best is the aforementioned BSM vs De. Benilde vs DeLaSalle. Knights vs Islanders. Red vs Black. Winners gets the cup! We break down the match-ups now!
De’Von Irvin vs Jaleel Donley Jaleel Donley 6'1" | PG Benilde-St. Margaret's | 2025 State MN . I love this match-up. Irvin is an excellent defender and a scoring option that will get baskets on the move or at the arc. Donley is as natural of an explosive scoring option as they come as he can get a shot off pretty much whenever. If Irvin can force those shots to be contested and poor it will go a long way for De.
Jaeden Udean Jaeden Udean 6'2" | SG DeLaSalle | 2027 State MN vs Ron Lee. The freshman scorer and the veteran defender. Lee plays with intensity, Udean plays with natural scoring ability. Lee is a veteran that is consistent, Udean is a young talent learning to be consistent. Both are scoring in the mid teens per game this year.
Jaden Morgan Jaden Morgan 6'4" | SG DeLaSalle | 2024 State MN vs Abu Keita Abu Keita 6'5" | SF Benilde-St.Margaret's | 2025 State MN . Morgan is the top De scoring option with that corner triple and the slashing finish. Abu is the guy that gets the top jobs and tonight it’s a chance to show how good he is with those top jobs.
Evan Miller Evan Miller 6'5" | SF DeLaSalle | 2026 State MN vs Jayden Daisy Jayden Daisy 6'4" | SG Benilde-St. Margaret's | 2024 State MN . Miller is a sophomore that moved from Rochester and is off to a nice start. Daisy is a senior making his season debut. Guys making their debut later in the season usually do one of two things in their debut: give their team a big boost instantly, or get too excited and make some mistakes. Daisy’s return will play a big part tonight.
Ray James Jr vs Jalen Wilson Jalen Wilson 6'8" | PF Benilde-St. Margaret's | 2025 State #230 Nation MN . James is having a really nice start to the season as the battler and worker for De. This is the type of team that Wilson feasts on often because he’s so incredibly good in the paint. And I mean everywhere in the paint: back to the basket low block, high post catching and facing, flashing mid-lane to catch and dominate. But this is the Islanders who will have a gameplan to try and make Wilson uncomfortable. Should be fun.
Bang For the Buck. Saturday. Head to Henry at North at Minneapolis North at 1pm and then when you feel comfortable that that game has given you all you want, jump in the car and head from Minneapolis to St. Paul and catch the annual Eden Prairie versus Cretin-Derham Hall match-up at 3pm. You get to be in the heart of both of the Twin Cities and you get to see some good teams play while you are at it.
