The [program_tooltip program_id='2078408' first='Team' last='Rose'] Shootout over the weekend allowed PHI to check out some of the better talent from the Chicagoland area. Now we examine the prospects that did the best including here in [program_tooltip program_id='2078408' first='Team' last='Rose'] Shootout: Top 2025 Performers!

[player_tooltip player_id='1385292' first='Phoenix' last='Gill'] (St. Ignatius)

Gill is the top ranked junior in the state and showed flashes of why in his matchup against Heard. Silky smooth mid-range game, reverse layup for an and-1, and transition scores were how he got most of his 12 points. Rebounded well (9 boards) in the loss and had a couple sweet dimes including one he landed badly on after dishing it off for a layup.

[player_tooltip player_id='1385293' first='Bryce' last='Heard'] (Homewood Flossmoor)

Heard had his moments as well against Gill. Also rebounded well, made a couple nice reads in the half court for assists, and drained a pair of threes one off a jab step and another on a spot up. Got to the line several times finishing with 13 points and 5 rebounds.

[player_tooltip player_id='1774274' first='Jayden' last='Tyler'] (Homewood Flossmoor)

Tyler was the boost that HF needed in the second half to take them over the top in their win. The smaller guard is a super athlete and can shoot it. Drained a couple tough threes along with a sweet turnaround J inside the arc. The speed and athleticism pops here as he had 12 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='1385305' first='Lorenzo' last='Shields'] (Simeon)

Shields had the rock in his hands for the [program_tooltip program_id='2076046' first='Wolverines' last=''] in this one as he racked up 11 points in a loss to Rich Township. Long and lanky guard that stuffs the stat sheet. Excels in the open floor with his smooth handles and creativity. Good mid-range shooter in the 15-18 foot range. Solid defender that brings versatility on that end.

[player_tooltip player_id='2044507' first='Brent' last='Taylor'] (Lincoln Way East)

Taylor is primed for a massive leap in our January update after his play in the fall and in this contest. Long and rangy two guard that has a feathery shot from the perimeter and he wasn't afraid to put it on full display against Lindblom. He made three from beyond the arc while also showing his athleticism scoring off the dribble and in transition. Blocked several shots including getting out on a three. You are buying the smooth jumper and upside here as he scored 21 points.

Brenden Sanders (Lincoln Way East)

Sanders is a bouncy small forward that did most of his damage in the paint. Finished out of the dunker spot, acrobatic layups, and was active on the defensive end with his length while scoring 15 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='1545120' first='Marcos' last='Gonzales'] (Brother Rice)

Took a bit for Gonzales to get going, but once he did the top 30 sophomore made some key plays in their victory. Went coast to coast to send the game to triple OT where he hit the game winning free throws. Creative ball handler that showed some passing instincts for an off guard. Would like to see him be a little more aggressive. He had 11 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2539967' first='Jaylen' last='Blakes'] (TF North)

Blakes caught our attention as a 6'4” wing with a good frame and long arms. Made a couple of jumpers and had a nice spin move off the bounce. Went for 9 points against RB.

[player_tooltip player_id='2321410' first='Alanas' last='Castillo'] (Lemont)

Castillo put his name on our radar in the fall at an M14 workout and continued his momentum at [program_tooltip program_id='2078408' first='Team' last='Rose'] where he scored 14 points. Sound shooter that can make threes while showing some pop off the dribble scoring on multiple and-1 opportunities.

[player_tooltip player_id='2321376' first='Zack' last='Sharkey'] (Marian Catholic)

Been hearing buzz about Sharkey and there are definitely some intriguing tools here. Two guard that has a stellar mid-range game pulling up with crisp jumpers one after another. Decent handles and is a solid athlete finishing at the rim. Went for 14 points in a loss to Evanston.

[player_tooltip player_id='2321433' first='Theo' last='Rocca'] (Evanston)

Heard some buzz about Rocca heading into this matchup. Saw some intriguing tools. Solid size on the wing and can shoot it off the catch. Crafty ball handler that scored off the bounce a couple times including a reverse layup. He had 11 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2105218' first='Payton' last='Edwards'] (Bloom)

The Bloom junior shooting guard is a lefty that can score. Streaky shooter that hit a couple of threes. Can put it on the deck some and had a pair of nice finishes at the rim in a 13 point outing.

[player_tooltip player_id='1385307' first='Cameron' last='Thomas'] (Mt. Carmel)

Thomas has been a steady force as a playmaker and scorer for the Caravan this season. Well built point guard that can shoot it from three and has an excellent runner game. Like the toughness, leadership, and defense. He had 13 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2105179' first='Grant' last='Best'] (Mt. Carmel)

Best is a high IQ player that plays his role for Mt. Carmel. Plus spot up shooter that is a ball mover on the perimeter and when an opportunity presents itself take it to the basket. He had 7 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2321451' first='Jovohn' last='Ratliff'] (Hillcrest)

Second time in a week Ratliff impressed. Coming off the bench for Hillcrest the junior guard had 12 points using a soft touch finishing game in the paint along with a solid jumper.
