Hoophall West: 2026 Standout SG/CG’s 

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>November 29th-December 2nd I attended the annual&nbsp;<strong>Hoophall Wes</strong>t at Chaparral HS in Scottsdale/AZ. Many teams around the West Coast plus team from NYC took part in the prestigious event.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Here were some of the sophomore guard standouts:</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1150823' first='Kalek' last='House'] Desert Mountain (Pictured)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A guard who plays on or off the ball often. He defends at a high level and he is a shot maker from catch threes and difficult pull-ups from mid-range while being contested. He scores on tough layups in traffic with contact and uses floaters and runners. Stock up!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2211004' first='Rokiem' last='Green'] Canyon International Academy</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>An athletic shooting guard is becoming a 3 and D threat. He can rattle off catch threes and is great in transition. He is a very good on-ball defender as he moves his feet well laterally on defense. He rises high on his mid-range jumper off the dribble and brings energy every game.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1150824' first='Kaden' last='House'] Desert Mountain</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>House scores it so easily with threes off the catch or dribble in bunches. He is an incredible rebounder and gets players on his hip and manages to get to the line often. He hits tough euros in traffic going fast to slow with amazing body control. He makes tough contested shots and gets to his spots. He made some phenomenal passes in stride to his teammates. His stock is up on a national stage! </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1595670' first='Ikenna' last='Alozie'] Dream City Chrisitan</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One of the best players of the night belonged to Alozie. He scored 19 points with 10+ rebounds and 5+ assists. He is a great on-ball defender and is faster than most on the court. He also rattled off a couple threes showing that he is more then capable plus a high level pull-up from mid-range. He is a willing passer and is polishing up his skill slowly.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1482165' first='Rider' last='Portela'] Sunnyslope</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The long wing is a transition scorer and will hit the catch three. He often cuts to the basket and will score on offensive rebound put backs with his effort and athleticism. His length on defense bothers his opponents.  </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1494764' first='Brayden' last='Newton'] Boulder Creek</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A combo guard who brings real energy to the court. He has a quick burst to the basket and he is very fast in the open court to score in transition. He is quick on the ball defensively and makes plays for his teammates. &nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1694989' first='Brody' last='Postorino'] Notre Dame Prep</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A hard-nosed on-ball defender who can make shots from the three point line off the catch. He rebounds well and boxes out like you should. His ability to make it harder to score on is his skill. He made some clutch free throws in OT. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
