Here were some of the freshman and sophomore point guard standouts:
Delton Prescott III Delton Prescott III 5'11" | PG Sunnyslope | 2027 State AZ Sunnyslope
One of the top freshman guards in the state is a true dimer. The ball is on a string with him and has incredible open court speed to come with it. He makes contested shots look easy and can hit the catch three or pull-up from mid-range. He also happens to be a fantastic rebounder for his size. His three point shooting is already looking better then six months ago.
Miles Sadler Miles Sadler 5'11" | PG Canyon International Academy | 2026 State AZ Canyon International Academy
A pure point guard who has the ball on a string with elite speed. He is a pure facilitator and makes perfect lob passes. He can split defenders and get to the basket. He can step thru and score or simply just speed dribble to the rim. He talks a lot on defense and will hit the catch three with more consistency. The pace and speed he plays at are different then most.
Mason Magee Mason Magee 6'0" | PG Basha | 2026 State AZ Basha
An athletic point guard scores on high level pull-ups and has speed to burn for days on the break. He handles the heavy pressure for the team and facilitates. He cuts off his opponents with his sheer speed on defense. He will consistently score on speed drives with his right hand or gets fouled and makes his free throws. He hit two deep threes and makes passes with either hand and is a very good alley-oop thrower.
John Mattingly John Mattingly 6'0" | PG Sunnyslope | 2026 State AZ Sunnyslope
The steady scoring lead guard made some impressive passes with drive and kicks, up the court passes on a dime and just simply moves the ball. He made some tough shots versus contact and gets to the free throw line and will cash in. He had a couple nice runners and floaters in the paint.
Dom Rojas Dom Rojas 5'8" | PG Sunnyslope | 2026 State AZ Sunnyslope
A tough undersized point guard makes open shots. He defends with high effort and dives on the floor and will take critical charges. His ability to defend, make open shots and take pressure off of the other guards allows him to stay on the court.
Jeehzus Pagan Jeehzus Pagan 6'0" | PG Boulder Creek | 2026 State AZ Boulder Creek (Pictured)
A pure point guard who loves getting downhill. He throws passes up the court and he is a tough physical on-ball defender to block shots, collect steals and rebound. He also scores on back door layups and bursts to the rim.
